slickmick Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 I see Bolton are offering a free pint for the 1st 1000 customers that turn up. Be interesting to see what their gate is like this week end. If we follow suit, make mine a vodka Rupert.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 And being able to defend long balls, long throw-ins and crosses into the box So the football's been good, except for creating chances and scoring, and defending all that stuff you mention above? So the bits that are left are 1) shot-stopping and 2) a bit of fancy stuff in the middle of the park. That's not what I call good football, and thats why people are staying away. Wins (and wins at home in particular) are what will get people back, and it is that which should have been the focus of the season's plan, not just the cheap options of playing youth and hiring someone who will settle for being treated as an employee "coach" instead of "manager". People may not be staying away because of Lowe specifically, but because of the lack of home success, and that is largely down to Lowe's ego (I know best, and I want to follow the plan SCW and I prepared earier), and Lowe's contempt for football fans (they will pay up, they are bred to do it). SOS appeals by Illingworth in the Echo will fall on deaf ears in the absence of some good home wins. And the lack of inventive thinking to get more people to come along is quite pathetic - they can't do anything to stimulate attendance because it will always upset one group or another. Bullsh*t. Give the promise of discounted renewals next year if you get a friend to purchase a season ticket for the remainder of the season, bring 2 mates and get a free ticket for the next match... for f*cks sake try something, but the club are just sitting there whining that there's nothing they can do.

luke8588 Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 I'll be there saturday with 11 mates, I think it will be a good game!
slickmick Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 I'll be there saturday with 11 mates, I think it will be a good game! What position are you playing in ?
saintbob40 Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 I suggest all the doom and gloom merchants stay at home and type crap on this board. All proper fans who want their team to win should get their backsides down to SMS and support their team. Free beer and pork scratchings all day for all supporters (apart from particularly fat and ugly ones) makes perfect sense to me.

scott_saints Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 I'll be there saturday with 11 mates, I think it will be a good game! In the Northam?? As I know someone who is also going with 11 mates....he may be one of your mates
Charlie Wayman Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 The weather forecast is good but nobody is shopping so the wives will stay at home and the blokes won't have the excuse to sneak off to SMS for a couple of hours. That means quite a few having to make a conscious decision to get up off their Rrses and make the effort of a trip into town. Will they, won't they? The way we're palaying at the moment? NAH! Don't think so, so 14,357 will be the best that can be hoped for.

Long Shot Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 Do the majority of fans go or not go to football matches because of the Chairman or because of what is on display on the pitch - or other reasons? Whilst we know that there are some here who will not go because of the chairman, most will not go because a number of other reasons - Cost, not being in the Prem, finding other things to do, fed up with overpaid footballers, lots of live footy on the telly, no drinking and driving..I am sure there are a lot more reasons that people can find for not going. I stopped going to live matches regularly years ago because a) I started playing footbal myself at weekends and b) the hooliganism. Now I rarely go because I think that the prices ar crazy. I used to be able to turn up on the day and get in with my pocket money. Now I have to plan well in advance, try and get a ticket, and pay about £100 for myself for a home match - £200 if I take my partner, for the day. I am sorry. As much as I love SFC I cannot justify that kind of expenditure on a football match more than a couple of times a year. £200 if you take your partner? Do you live in the States?
Chez Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 The main reason why we took a good crowd to Donny was that it was a new ground for most Saints supporters. about 600 Northern based Saints fans go to all the away games up that way, come wind rain or shine as it is the only chance they get to see the side without a 500 mile round trip.
