saint_stevo Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Anyone know of any squash courts/clubs in the Hedge End/Southampton/Eastleigh area? Have been playing at Fleming Park but its usually pretty busy and the courts are tatty
Liquidshokk Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 St marys leisure centre is nothing special but as long as you book a few days ahead you can usually get a court ok.
hypochondriac Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 I play at St Marys. Absolute dive but you only need a court so it is passable.
benjii Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Does Chamberlayne have them? It's fairly new, I think, so they are probably in decent condition.
hypochondriac Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 No idea. I have no idea why squash isn't more popular though. It's a much better game to play then tennis for example. Even with a novice playing squash you can have a semi competitive game and it's easy to pick up.
saint_stevo Posted 2 March, 2011 Author Posted 2 March, 2011 Chamberlayne don't have squash http://www.activenation.org.uk/UserFiles/Chamberlayne%20Prices.pdf According to google there is a 'Fair Oak squash club' anyone a member?
SuperMikey Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 You could become a member of the Uni's sports facilities - £320 for 12 months (public prices, if you have a relative etc at the uni you get it cheaper) which applies to all the things listed on the website below: http://www.sportrec.soton.ac.uk/ There are 4 squash courts here btw Steve.
um pahars Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 What about the old AC Delco Sports and Social off Stoneham Lane (think it's now called Stoneham Park or something). I used to play squash up there a few years back.
sfc1971 Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Not sure if you can still join but Trojans down Stoneham lane has super squash courts. could be worth a Google.
saintbletch Posted 3 March, 2011 Posted 3 March, 2011 Not sure if you can still join but Trojans down Stoneham lane has super squash courts. could be worth a Google. I used to play at Trojans with a friend who was a member and I agree the courts there are very good. I didn't join as I was already a member of Fleming Park, but I THINK it would have been about £100 to join and then the courts were something like £1/10 mins. It depends when you play but courts were always free at lunch times. And, if you're good enough or you have an ego the size of a house, you can play in one of the courts with glass back walls whilst spectators watch from the seating area behind you.
