It was bad tonight, wasn't it. It seemed to go down completely about 15 minutes ago and, before that, it was so slow that I realised Walsall had scored by looking at the BBC web page.

Yep! THAT slow FFS! I managed to play 5 games of Solitaire between each refresh!

Not good enough IMO

A refund from Saints Player too! They actually gave us a Portsmouth commentary for our money!

That's nothing to do with Saints Player though.

They just offer the feed provided by Solent, it was BBC Solent that lost the link at Walsall - sometimes it's just one of those things, ****ty little grounds like that have awful connectivity at the best of times.

thankfully this evening we kept a full log of what exactly was going wrong. Steve has already sent this to the hosts with a "make it stop doing this, or we're going elsewhere".

Seriously get it sorted or work out an alternative source of income like the Brighton fan suggested earlier this week. Enough is enough.

Please keep copies of all correspondence for yourself and send me copiess as well via the PM system. My solicitor and trading standards will be needing them.

Desperately trying to figure out if a fiver of my hard arned cash has ever been so abused.

I coughed up and renewed expecting a service many times better than the free service I was previously getting. :suspicious:

The matchday experience as an expat who cant get to games is my main reason for being here .. matchday interaction, up to the second goal news adn general all round good banter ...

the moment there is a major incident /............ forget it till the end of the game.

PATHETIC

Don't even think about sending me a renewal notice unless it is to say thak you for your valued support you will have a freebie year to make up for our p!iss poor service.

Not being funny but why have we got to March before this has happened? It's been a problem (on away match days) for months now.

Sorry, in a bad mood (for some unknown reason...)

I know his life is a permanent holiday, but he actually went away this time... Obviously feeling a bit flush. Anyway even time lords need a holiday once in a while. FFS!

No offence to the administrators, but its shocking tbh.

I don't expect even free sites to crash like this - and this has been a repeated issue.

Embarrassing, frankly.

I'm not one to moan, especially not at people who basically give up their time for free to run a site like this, but I have to agree with the above posts. It may only be a fiver, but its staying firmly in my pocket until things improve, there are plenty of other (free) websites that are far more reliable than this.

It's been fairly obvious to me ever since the paying system was introduced that a lot of posters struggled to way up the odds between paying to post on an internet forum, or not. I think those who paid, most paid reluctantly (I know I did) so now for the forum to be crashing all the time, it will be a lot more reluctant next time, that's if they bother.

I'm surprised it wasn't sent months ago.

I hardly ever bother coming on here during matches now. And after almost every single match it's proved I've saved myself a lot of time

Seriously, I can say this without worrying about offending anyone because I don't know the admin bods on here and I don't rely on saintsweb as I'm not a Southampton fan - but this site is absolutely appalling. I tried to get on here last night and it crashed probably 4 or 5 times before I managed to log in. Then it crashed over and over again, so I gave up. If people are paying for this service then that is disgraceful. It's not just NSC (our site) that relies on click-thru income, there are loads of free forums out there, many attracting more users than this one does. And I'll repeat it, just so that you know how much you £5 people are being ripped off - Darren (our web administrator) has got a lot of money (£000s!)swilling about in the NSC bank account, all from click thru income. He's admittedly dipping into that (but only a little bit) as traffic increases, but it is very fast, and very reliable, and I suspect our traffic levels are not massively different from yours. Apart from click-thrus (now exclusively Amazon, incidentally), funds have also been raised by the site sponsoring a player - we were asked to chip in for £10 a head, but that also gets the site a corporate package for six people to a match, the places for which were then randomly awarded to six of the sponsorship contributors. Of course it was overpaid by NSCers, so that leftover was added to the NSC slush fund.

At the very least, the admins on here should be exploring alternative ways of funding it, and should have abandoned the company hosting the site YONKS ago, because they are clearly SHìTHOUSE. Can you imagine this place if you need a win to go up on the last day of the season or whatever? I guess the fact that this site is being run for profit sticks in the craw, too. I'm fairly sure I'll be slaughtered by some on here for these opinions, but I've always felt a fan site is best managed as a labour of love, not for a bit of extra cash.

The problem is Simster that not everyone pays,I have no idea as to the ratio of Full Members to Registered Users but on away match days the forum should be Members only from 19hr 30 until 22hrs.

This with the addition of 'on away match days, the forum should be Members only for the duration of the match' (to cover Sat / Sun afternoon / early evening matches)

I use the site for many other reasons than the matchday 'experience' and a fiver is cluck all to be honest but it does seem that when I need it most (Radio effing skatesmatch last night) it's found wanting.

I still think it's a fiver well spent but if I could suggest to the owners whatever number of fivers you have to pay for your service is tantamount to standing in front of **** Turpin with your hands in the air - it is not doing what it is supposed to therefore you can claim unfit for intended purpose...not of merchantable quality - I'm sure you're well versed in the phraseology needed.

7.05 Peso a week there is no way I would pay that for a site that crashes at the very time you need it most :)

How much does a philippino wife cost? To put it into context.

Quite right too, why pay when you can freeload on a system funded by others. Europe's disease which now seems to spreading to

the whole of the planet.

No one ever wanted the subs bought in in the first place. I think there should be some sort of campaign not to renew so that the admin are forced to fond alternative sources of income.

Actually there was no such thing as "free speech" on either Saints Forever or here, you either stick to the rules or you get the boot. The "free" part is nothing to do with cost, it relates to liberty, and that's pretty clearly defined legally.

So why was the Wallsall link working so well? Anyway legally speaking I am right to blame Saintsplayer as I pay Saints Player so they are responsible to me as a customer and in turn Solent are responsible to them as a supplier!

I think it is a bit unfair blaming Wallsall as last week the commentary was messed up at the start and we had over to minutes of inane chat about twitter by Sue when the match was at St Mary's (against Swindon)

I'm quite new to these sort of things so dont really understand the ins and outs. To me a £5 is neither here nor there, I want to post more than 3 posts a day and particulary enjoy The Lounge and The Arts section. To fully use them, you really need more than 3 posts a day.

I understand that there are a lot of free sites on the web, but I regulary buy mates a drink that comes to a lot more than £5, so I think £5 is a red herring, it's hardly going to break the bank. I firmly believe that if we were asked for donations to keep the site going, then you would raise more revenue than collecting £5 off of all full members.

That isn't really the point. You can adequately provide the current service for free using alternative sources of income. Limiting people to three posts a day stifles debate (this place is noticeably quieter than S4E days in terms of the number of posters) and probably puts some people off registering and using it regularly. I mostly enjoy posting on here but I do resent it a bit that I have to pay a fiver a year to do something which for a number of years was a free service.

I don't get to matches these days and I'm too far away to get Solent, so I rely on the match thread for up-to-date information. I don't begrudge the fiver, but I do think something should be done, especially to cater for exiles like me.

Please :)
