Gemmel Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 Dont laugh too loudly Saintwiz. We did exactly the same thing (Ours was only 1 inch short though)
Poop&Scoop Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 Just make thinner timing boards.

Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 It's done on purpose.
stu0x Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 Amazing that they make this mistake over and over again. Surely the obvious thing to do (rather than lengthening the pool) is build the touch-sensitive panel into the tiling...

Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 It's done to secure funding but keep it for the use for the general public. If it ends up qualifying for competition standard it's use to the local population plummets and so do revenues.
Chez Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 Not sure what all the fuss is about. The Olympic pool is in Stratford. This pool is used for training which doesn't need timing boards, hence it is exactly the right length. Sounds like one political party is using this non story to attack another. Funny first thing I thought was that as well
tony13579 Posted 2 March, 2011 Share Posted 2 March, 2011 If they are going to "lose millions" then they should invest in some wafer thin touch panels and remove the tiles. I am sure a touch panel does not need to be 50mm thick. An iPhone is 8mm thick and is an effective touch panel ( it don't like getting wet though)
