JustMike Posted 28 February, 2011 Share Posted 28 February, 2011 Just curious really, but after several high profile sport types showing the rest of us how to cock up on sites like twitter, has your work place imposed a social media policy? Gemmel Posted 28 February, 2011 Share Posted 28 February, 2011 Most companies are now trying to use it in their favour and provide social media, in a way that they can harness and capture relevant information. I'm not talking about facebook, but to have their own internal social collaboration tools and any integration with linkedin, that they can get. Some big business out there for the corpoarates with the vision
Thedelldays Posted 28 February, 2011 Share Posted 28 February, 2011 I have removed myself from Facebook etc. It is ridiculously easy to fund out details if you, your friends and your family by total strangers. For that reason alone, I'm out.

No social media policy per se, Facebook is blocked on the network. The social media side of things is actually covered in the code of conduct which you have to affirm to annually. For that reason alone, I'm out. The tool only gives out as much information as you put in TDD, put decent security settings in place and all is fine. It is amazing how many people block access to their wall and friends list but still show picture gallerys! The security settings ought to be a little easier to understand. The same can be said of linkedin though, which I'm also on for work contacts.
Thedelldays Posted 1 March, 2011 Share Posted 1 March, 2011 Facebook being used with 192.com, google earth/maps and other free to use sites can provide an alarming amount of personal information for someone who may want to cause distress.
