Tom8558 Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Exactly what is written. Hopefully we can carry this momentum forward and ultimately win with a Brighton loss or draw.
alpine_saint Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 My first choices for the two CMs would be Chaplow and Schneiderlin anyway.
Dazza82 Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Id play Barnard and Schneiderlin, With Guly going out and Hammond out
Saint Charlie Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Davis Butters Fonte Jaidi Harding Chamberlain Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Barnard
Roger Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Davis Butters Fonte Jaidi Harding Chamberlain Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Barnard Can jaidi play another game so quickly. The guy was my mom today.
SuperMikey Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Can jaidi play another game so quickly. The guy was my mom today. Seaborne wasn't in the side today so i'm guessing he'll start on Tuesday - Adkins is probably trying to keep him fresh. That's a good system actually, resting Jaidi and Seaborne alternately and having Martin on the bench.

Seaborne has some sort of back injury, minor according to the OS but who knows whether that's a conservative assessment.
Saint_clark Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 I know changing the side too much after a win can often have a negative affect, but would anyone else want to see Richardson play instead of Butterfield? I like Danny but he hoofs it a lot and even his short passing was wayward today.
Papa Shango Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 I know changing the side too much after a win can often have a negative affect, but would anyone else want to see Richardson play instead of Butterfield? I like Danny but he hoofs it a lot and even his short passing was wayward today. Richardson's passing is a lot worse.
Saint Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Team should be: Davis Richardson Fonte © Martin Harding Chamberlain Chaplow Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Barnard Subs: Shea, Dickson, Jaidi, Butterfield, Hammond, Forte, Guly As much as I like Butterfield, I think I prefer Richardson. Their distribution is equally suspect but Richardson is much more solid. I think Jaidi may struggle after such a good performance today, and I would love to see more of Aaron Martin. He did well against Blackpool. I like Hammond, but my preferred midfield partnership is RC and MS. It's hard though when DH is captain.
Minty Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Richardson's passing is a lot worse. Must say I completely disagree. Sometimes he tries more longer balls to try switch play and these are noticeable if they don't come off, but generally speaking I think Richardson is slightly better, partly because he seems more aware of his options. Neither are outstanding passers, but also it must be said that in general a full back is often left with less options to pass to because of his position on the pitch and so can be more harshly judged. If the opposition close down midfield options, more often than not they are left with only the option of a percentage ball down the line or into the channel. The midfield and his centre backs can help by making themselves more available. You're relying on others to move for you more in that position, than when the ball is in the middle of the park.
itchen_dan Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 My first choices for the two CMs would be Chaplow and Schneiderlin anyway. Gotta agree! Hammond looks like he is wading through custard when he runs. Too slow and misses alot of tackles. But whilst he's captain, he'll be playing. Rather Fonte be captain.
Papa Shango Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 I'm sure Rickie will have sleepless nights over the next few days at the thought of coming up against Ollie Lancashire. I'm going to go out on a limb and say we will win by at least 3 goals
SuperMikey Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Seaborne has some sort of back injury, minor according to the OS but who knows whether that's a conservative assessment. Ah, must have missed that one!
trousers Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Bournemouth and Peterborough don't have a game on Tuesday and Huddersfield have a tricky tie away to "do well against the top sides at home" Hartlepool. So, in theory, we stand a good chance of being 3rd on Tuesday, just 3 points behind Bournemouth with 2 games in hand. In theory...
Thedelldays Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Business end of the season is here Time to stand up and be counted and win
hypochondriac Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Davis Butterfield Martin Fonte Harding Chamberlin Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana Barnard Lambert Would be my team. It won't be the team that's played but it's what I would have.
SaintBobby Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Start with Schneiderlin and Barnard for sure. Jaidi was immense today, but assuming he needs resting soon. I thought Hammond was pretty good today, so I'd drop Chaplow.
SuperSAINT Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 I accepted the draw with Hartlepool as long as we beat Swindon, so on that front, job done. Stats-wise, Walsall have lost 9 at home already this season, and only Peterborough have conceded more at home in the whole league. 3pts is a must.
Dr Who? Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 Looking forward to this one and my first visit to Walsall! Well the ground, I have stayed in their travelodge!!
MongoNeil Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 My missus has suddenly decided she can make it but we've now only got three tickets between four of us, I presume pay on the gate isn't an issue for this game?
Dog Posted 26 February, 2011 Posted 26 February, 2011 My missus has suddenly decided she can make it but we've now only got three tickets between four of us, I presume pay on the gate isn't an issue for this game? Well I'm going up without a ticket, so If I can't blag it in the away end, I'll put my brummie accent on and fire in the home end.
Lighthouse Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Team should be: Davis Richardson Fonte © Martin Harding Chamberlain Chaplow Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Barnard Exactly the team I'd play. It could happen, but I very much doubt Martin will feature.
aussiesaint20 Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Anyone know what state their pitch is in? Hopefully like a bowling green but I very much doubt it.
SaintBobby Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 We should win but can't afford any silly goals to get their crowd going. Watch this near post shots kelvin. Tough game simply because it's a crap ground and they have nothing to lose. Aren't they doing a fair job of scrapping hard for their lives and possibly engineering a great escape from relegation? 3-0 to Saints though IMHO
ericofarabia Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Anyone know what state their pitch is in? Hopefully like a bowling green but I very much doubt it. Game will be post poned for sure - I'm not working and will be able to listen to the commentary - can't remember the last game I listened to live or could actually have a beer as not working later. Fingers crossed for this one though.
benjii Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Not wishing to divert the thread but I guess I would have to say we should pick the team I mention here: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?28553-Our-best-team Obviously, we might rotate a couple (Jaidi etc) for fatigue reasons.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Business end of the season is here Time to stand up and be counted and win Indeed. This is one of our games in hand over Bournemouth. We really need the 3 points. Attitude needs to be right and ffs dont let them score first.
ExSt Peter Saint Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Will be there to see a game finally. Walsall were in terrible form when the game was originally scheduled, so hope the slight improvement since then will mean nothing and we'll prove our team is good enough to be in the automatic places. With a fit combination of Lallana, Oxo and Lambert playing to their best ability we should be unstoppable in this league. Also like the competition for places throughout the team and don't feel we have a really weak link, unlike recent years.
Appy Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Lambert Vs Lancashire should be fun. Any idea on how many we're taking up there?
Gemmel Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 I know changing the side too much after a win can often have a negative affect, but would anyone else want to see Richardson play instead of Butterfield? I like Danny but he hoofs it a lot and even his short passing was wayward today. I'd be disappointed if that chnage wasnt made. Butterfield was outstanding in his first few games, but hasn't been as good recently. It would also send out the perfect message. Given the options available, any drop in form and someone takes your place.
The Cat Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Tough call with the RB position. Butterfield didn't have such a good game yesterday but I feel he is a lot more consistent than Richardson whose passing and distribution can be terrible. Maybe Morgan will start too, as shown yesterday we are a different team when he gets time on the ball.
LGTL Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 I finish work in Southampton at 4.15, anyone fancy my chances of getting there on time?!
The Cat Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 I finish work in Southampton at 4.15, anyone fancy my chances of getting there on time?! I hope so because I'm leaving at that time too!
Saint 76er Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Couple of things I picked up on in Adkins interview on BBC website .. He said Guly came off with a slight hamstring strain and the interviewer said weather forecast for Tues is looking dodgy and chance of postponement. In response Nigel said, quite firmly, that he was only concerned with what was controllable not what wasn't. Sounds like Guly might miss out then, thus smoothing the path for Barnard to start ...
Saint Garrett Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Any idea whether tickets will be available on the door therefore not having to pay the booking fee ?
Papa Shango Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Lambert Vs Lancashire should be fun. Any idea on how many we're taking up there? Would guess about 1100
paulwantsapint Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 If Guly is out could play dng or forte with Lallana just behind rickie
S-Clarke Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 If Guly is out could play dng or forte with Lallana just behind rickie Forte is injured too i think. Not sure how bad though.
Saint Garrett Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Definitely start with Barnard and Morgan.
derry Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Hypothetical but I would like to see- Davis, Butterfield, Jaidi, Martin, Harding, Chamberlain, Lallana, Fonte, N'Guessan, Lambert, Barnard. 4-4-2 (Guly had a hamstring problem yesterday)
S-Clarke Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 are you suggesting we put Fonte in midfield, or play 3 at the back in a wing back system?
derry Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Connolly ? Connolly, Seaborne, Dickson and Forte ruled out yesterday with injury.
derry Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 are you suggesting we put Fonte in midfield, or play 3 at the back in a wing back system? Yes, as the defensive midfielder with free role for Lallana.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Yes, as the defensive midfielder with free role for Lallana. Schneiderlin is a much better defensive midfielder than Fonte ever would be. Fonte doesn't have the range of passing required for the job.
CWD Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Davis Butterfield Martin Fonte Harding Chamberlin Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana Barnard Lambert Would be my team. It won't be the team that's played but it's what I would have. I disagree, assuming that seaborne is still injured, I reckon thats exactly the team that'll play. It really should be far too much for Walsall...
View From The Top Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 I finish work in Southampton at 4.15, anyone fancy my chances of getting there on time?! No problem. You'll be parked up by 18.30(ish)
