I'll prob enter this fantasy thing closer to the date, got Monday off work. Been having a look at some of the races today and really like Paintball in the Fred Winter.

Chris, are you any relation to Nick Obee?

Yep, I had to think about it but he is my first cousin, once removed ! His Grand Dad, Eric, was obviously my uncle, we went to many Saints away games and some really great memories. Nick was on here at one point but that was a few years ago.

Finding the winner of any race will be hard. At present if I had to name one for the Gold Cup it would be Pandorama. Reported to be working well and has been supported on Betfair.

Says the man that puts up a mudlark for the Gold Cup

I'm not after timing here, I can't be bothered with going back through the records but on Day 1 of the 2009 Cheltenham festival I put up 4 of the 5 winners of the TV races which included the 22/1 Punjabi :p

Pandorama for the gold cup.....fully expect his odds to halve by the time that race comes round

We will see :)

For a bit of fun, those interested should put up a selection of a horse they intend to back at the Festival.

My selection would have to be Ghizao in the Arkle.

Giddy up!

In that case I doubt you'll be fit in time for Cheltenham but you might just have recovered enough to watch it from your sick bed ? Possibly, maybe, surely !

i am on the road to recovery.

Bookies at lunch on Day 1, at the festival on Day 2 and off for 3&4 to watch from home/bookies.

You attending this year old boy?

Slim chance IF I won free tickets as per post 48, even then I would probably have to walk there :(

Thanks for starting this Chris..... Joined the Telegraph League...

Off to Sandown on Saturday, looking forward to that, unfortunately I will be working during Cheltenham...Not sure what I will be doing yet, except in the Champ Hurdle

Menorah.

Have been having a few pound on him antepost for the last few weeks and will be worth a fair whack to me if he comes in, think he has a real chance, plus I saw him run in his first ever race at Naas, when myself and my brother took a trip to Dublin...looked very useful then but never thought he would scale these heights.

Hi Frankie,

Menorah looks a cracking bet to me, I did post this as a message on TE on Sunday :

"Fast forward to Tuesday 15th March. Champion Hurdle. The word from the Hobbs yard is that Menorah is working out of his skin at home. About 2 weeks ago they wondered if he would come back to his best and it was touch and go but last week he hit form on the gallops and the word is that he is working better than just before his last run. If you watched his last run you will know it was almost beyond belief. The way he quickened off the home turn at Cheltenham is one of the most impressive bursts of acceleration I have ever seen and if he makes it to Cheltenham in the form his is in today he will win. Big word and a nice price. 5/1 is a massive price and I think he will go off favourite."

Doesn't look now that he will go off favourite though I would not be surprised if more money came. Ok, that is one poor horse that is now doomed, next !? :D

I've had money on Peddlar's Cross ever since he beat Binocular at Sandown. With us tipping everything else, Hurricane Fly will probably romp in now!

Nope !!

Montjeu has never sired a winner of a Cheltenham Festival race despite having had 44 runners.

The bad news? Hurricane Fly is a son of the enigmatic French racehorse.

Fly also has to overcome the fact he has never raced at Cheltenham. 10 of the last 10 winners have won or placed in a graded hurdle at HQ.

Fascinating race. Will Peddlers attempt to run the finish out of Binocular and Menorah? Peddlers might be able to get Menorah struggling but if last years Binocular turns up I can see him finishing in front.

Some good news, you can safely lay ALL my selections :D

Tip Exchange :

January - Level stakes profit 26.17 points

February - Level stakes profit 43.51 points profit

March ( to date) level stakes profit 7.85 points ( including 5 winners from 9 yesterday)

This is unprecedented and cannot last !!! That said this coincides with my policy of actually placing money on none of my selections, this may or may not continue

Nicky the needle's been at it again. Ridiculous stuff. Someone knew as well, he was drifting out a lot on Betfair. Feel sorry for all Antepost backers who didn't get NRNB. Bit of a sour start to the week really

Yep, the bookies are laughing already.

No consolation either really that Menorah IS favourite by default.

"The man writes a column in the Racing Post every Saturday for Pete’s sake. Surely he must have thought it newsworthy to mention that the most high profile horse in his stable, not to mention the ante-post favourite for the Champion Hurdle, has been under medication for the last 2 weeks because of an allergy complaint. Isn’t that why the Racing Post pay him to write a column in their paper? So we know what’s happening in his stable. Obviously not. He thinks we’re more interested in migrating birds returning for the Spring or what he’s had for breakfast. "

I should not laugh but :D

RSA Hurdle Wed: 2.40 : Aiteen Thirtythree

Word is that Ruby Walsh will ride this runner, not the Mullins horse. This was decided yesterday and is not common knowledge yet as far as I know but it will be in the next 24 hours. He schooled this runner 2 days ago and he was so impressed that he made the decision there and then. This runner has only got a few pounds to find with the favourite, Time for Rupert, and Walsh thinks he has found that and more. 8/1 look to be good value .

Also worth noting Time for Rupert has not run for 3 months and lacks experience in anything like a big field over fences.

Looking forward to the inevitable losing of money.

Need to start paying attention to who is running in each race, but quite like Aighteenthirtythree, which I think is in the RSA.

Got 9/1 on Aiteenthirtythree for the RSA at Coral. You will note I was the first one to mention him on this thread.

Get on Spirit Son in Supreme Novice tomorrow at Paddypower - if Cue Card wins they will refund.

Indeed !

Jockey for Aiteenthirtythree still not confirmed. ATR suggesting it will be Daryl Jacobs ? You might think they would resolve these kind of issues sooner, rather helpful for the poor punter methinks !
