Scummer Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 How many old computers/consoles can you name in this BBC quiz? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7671677.stm I got 8/10.

Scudamore Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 4/10 And i'm in no way ashamed of that fact...
JohnnyFartPants Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 Same here. No points at all until question 6. 2/10. I feel quite pleased.
St Landrew Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 (edited) Same here; 8/10. I got the eMac [easy mistake. Don't know Apples well] and the IBM Portable PC5155 wrong. Could have sworn that machine was a Compaq. Just checked the pictures. No wonder..! Here's the Compaq in close up: And here's the IBM: Add in a bit of brain-fade, and you get a mistake. Scummer Posted 15 October, 2008 Author Posted 15 October, 2008 St Landrew, you got the same two as me wrong.

Al de Man Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 7/10. I lost two on the consoles so they don't count as computers anyway.

And, whilst being honest, that IBM / Compaq one was a pure guess!

Danny Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 8/10 - although they were mainly the best guesses I've ever made.
dubai_phil Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 5/10 was mad at getting the portable one wrong, I actually had one of those old compaqs at home for a while, never knew Big Blue made one as well!

That's now 3 confirmed cases of people mistaking the IBM for a Compaq Portable, and not just guessing incorrectly.
Robsk II Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 5/10, not bad given that I wasn't born for some of them.
lordswoodsaints Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 sadly 7/10....i thought i was less geeky than i actually am. im going to have to pick on a little bloke with glasses and drink at least 2 halfs of shandy to bring my estimation of myself back to normality.....................if my mum lets me.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 15 October, 2008 Posted 15 October, 2008 5, although some were guesses.

Scummer Posted 16 October, 2008 Author Posted 16 October, 2008 I actually feel bad that I did so well now. When I started this thread I was expecting loads of people to get 8, 9 or 10. I don't want to be a geek......

I don't want to be a geek...... Never be ashamed of doing well in anything positive. People who get pleasure from failure from non-mainstream knowledge are just herd losers. Never fall into the trap of the sheep-like attitude to enjoy being bad at non-fashionable things. Bollix to that mentality. Be individual. You can at least celebrate your excellent memory, or the fact that you're extremely observant, if nothing else.
Johnny Shearer Posted 17 October, 2008 Posted 17 October, 2008 I loved the BBC Micro computer at school. Even better was the dot matrix printer which was as big as a desk!
saintjim16 Posted 19 October, 2008 Posted 19 October, 2008 4/10 and thats only becuase of the games ones and the mac at the end.

jawillwill Posted 19 October, 2008 Posted 19 October, 2008 8 out of 10 complete guesses were correct.
