Post-it note Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 Very true, but no business do a perfect job.. Like customer service workers for example. Absolute **** help and useless at their jobs. Use private companies if Royal Mail annoys you that much When receiving a package that decision lies with the sender. Moron.

bungle Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 privatise the thing.... but then the yoghurt knitters will go into meltdown Royal Mail should be part-privatised, and the money we make selling it off should be invested in the Post Office. Smirking_Saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 The post office is pretty good IMO, where as the Royal Mail is farking sh!te. The amount of times i have ordered gig tickets and they have given it to a neighbour (not even next door who i didn't actually know) and left no explanation to their whereabouts in my house. Or the old, leave the parcel on the doorstep trick !! In broad daylight ! What makes me laugh is when you are expecting a signed delivery do they ask who you are ?? No, they would take any signature from anyone to get it off their hands, but when you go and pick it up (if it goes back to depot) you have to bring umpteen bits of bloody ID to prove it's you. thesaint sfc Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 I had a new mobile phone delivered via courier and they dumped it on my front door step and signed for it themselves. I was away on holiday for 2 weeks! Got back to a very soggy box. They were farking lucky the phone wasn't broken!

Barney Trubble Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 The reason is simples.... It saves money In a business that loses as much money as RM, then saving money is essential. You see, they've already paid the postman to bring the parcel to your house - which is what they're paid to do - and it's not their fault your not in during the working day, hey they can make it to your house during working hours, so why can't you, it's not like you didn't know they were coming....oh... So, now you have to go to the Post Office and pick up your parcel, who cares if this inconveniences you? At least they don't have to send the postie out to your house again which will cost them time and money. What's that you say, you'll be getting more post tomorrow anyway....Take your logic away Spot on. The manager advised me that it is against the law to force their posties to work over their allocated hours. I suggested that that is down to Royal Mail to manage in the first place and ensure that staff can compelete their route, so that they can return to the sorting depot before their shift finishes. It would appear that there is an agreement in place whereby if a postie has come to the end of his shift, then he can leave his post/parcels at the Post Office that is most local to where he lives, the Royal Mail will later collect any undelivered post, in their vans, finally dropping it back off at the sorting depot, at some point later. I laughed at the guy on the phone as I just couldn't help it. He said that the Royal Mail have a duty to their customers to be cost effective and keep prices down. I guess this initiative was suggested by some middle-manager who has lost touch with the real workers and the paying customer.
