Um Bongo Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 (edited) Find out today if they will be thrown out of the league. At best, it's going to be a point deduction of at least -10. Apparently the Football league aren't happy with their finances and don't think they will last the season. Edited 7 August, 2008 by Um Bongo
St Landrew Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 I find it all rather strange, this points deduction thing. I mean, it's the football equivalent of kicking a man when he's down. Do the football authorities think every club is Leeds United, and therefore trying to pull a fast one..?

Its to stop clubs going into administration to get rid of debt.If only it was in force when Pompey did so.

saintwarwick Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 This is interesting: http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/LatestNewsDetail/0,,10794~1360690,00.html Swap Bournemouth for Bournemouth.
hamster Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 Poor beggars. On top of that, they will be getting their asres well and truly spanked by The Mighty Gills on Saturday. COYG's
Colinjb Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 Well, as a deterent for losing control of your finances it needs to be there. Teams have got away with murder for far too long.
hypochondriac Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 League two will be a joke next season. Seriously, what is the point?

BotleySaint Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 it will likely line up with 22nd Bournemouth -17pts 23rd Rotherham -17pts 24th Luton -30 pts Bizzare!
OldNick Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 The league had to act.Too many clubs like Leicester and Pompey took the easy way out by going into administration to lift the burden of massive debt and hurting small businesses. This meant that well run clubs had trouble getting credit as firms were wary of suppling them only to be bad debts. Now administration is a last resort and suppliers know that they are more likely to be paid and so will supply thm.

OldNick Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Fair enough in the case of Leeds, who behaved ridiculously with their finances for a long time, but Bournemouth are just a small club that never have any money. They hardly overspent. There has to be a better way than just relegating the clubs again.Thats not the point, but the club has been reckless. They have had Anderton on their books for a few seasons, he doesnt come cheap. If you are a small supplier you dont need bad debts however a small a club they are selling to.
hamster Posted 9 August, 2008 Posted 9 August, 2008 Gill's team only just arrived, could delay KO. Looking at the Boscombe Pier Webcam, a miserable cold and wet afternoon in store for the fans: http://www.livesurfcams.co.uk/index.php/SurfCams/BoscombeRee
