Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Where was Forte tonight? Desperately needed to do something different sooner. N'Guessan was MOM at Exeter and gave us something different, so disappointed not to see him introduced at all tonight.

sotonjoe Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Right ... I'm joining "them". This is the 3rd Division FFS, we're lead to believe our operating budget vastly outweighs everyone else's and yet we still can't manage an auto spot. This is ridiculously frustrating. Why can't we walk this league?
Micky Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Absolute toss - missed opportunity to make up ground. Don't give a monkeys that others drew as well - it was our chance to win, gain points on them, put pressure on them and show some intent. We failed to do that - look at it as a good point if you like, but personally when I see Brighton knock in their 4th goal in the 90th minute I do wonder about the mentality of the two teams. We, supposedly, are the Man City of this league, whilst they are the Blackpool - just goes to show, riches will not necessarily bring you success. Hacked off tonight. Dr Who? Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Good result, and other results went our way. Win on Saturday and next Tuesday and we will be in a very strong position.
St Marco Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Bad result no doubt about it. It would of been a good point if the other teams failed to get anything but they all drew too and the leader won. They have one of the worst home records in the league having won only 5 of their 15 games and shipping 24 goals. Brighton hammered them there. If we want to go up in the auto spots have to beat teams like this and take advantage when teams drop points. But it isn't the end of the world, another clean sheet. But 2 wins in our last 6 league games isn't promotion form.
Saint_clark Posted 22 February, 2011 Author Share Posted 22 February, 2011 I am more concerned about the lack of chances we seem to be making at the moment! we never really looked like scoring tonight! 7 shots on target, 4 shots off.

John B Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Should be winning these games really. Apart from Brighton we are lucky with the results but on the other hand we could have capitalized. Saint Fan CaM Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Complete rubbish considering the 'opportunity' eh Nigel? Whatever you're saying to them, it ain't working. You need to be ruthless and drop players like Guly who are not performing - give Barnard a freaking start and try to win the freaking game! Oh and don't play an attacking midfielder on the wing when you have N'Guessian on the bench to run at tired legs FFS!!!! I would like to know why Forte was not even on the bench? Nothing on the OS about injury.
Professor Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 What is up with fans who see this result as OK? So other teams drew as well. Thats no credit to Saints, just luck. The L1 championship is well beyond us and Brighton are showing how champion teams play. Hartlepool are mid to lower table and our team struggled against them. People who say we have such a great squad need to take off the rose-tinted glasses. This great squad can't produce a consistent winning team and loses too often. The games in hand mean nothing unless the team can win them both and that looks less and less likely. It now seems the playoffs is the best we can hope for and even that depends on other teams doing worse than we do. Have I made it too obvious that I'm p****d off with this result.
Lighthouse Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Shoyt BUT... We went away and matched what other teams did at home. Yes we missed an opportunity, but we haven't lost ground and it's still in our hands to get second. Can we do it? Absolutely. Do I think we will? Not on your nelly. As an aside, we signed 2 'creative' players in January and neither of them could get on the pitch tonight when we were apparently short of ideas. WTF Adkins? We really should not be satisfied with this as a result!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 With everyone else drawing, it was an excellent opportunity to put pressure on others with a win and give ourselves some leeway as we try to utilise our games in hand. Missed opportunity certainly but at least it was a point away at what is one of our longest trips away. Bournemouth are at Daggers, Oldham & Peterborough play each other and 'Udders have the on-form Orient - beat Swindon and we may find we've made up some ground against opponents who have some tricky fixtures... Turkish Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Good, good, usual drama queenism. Out of all the teams playing for second place (lets face it, we are now unless Brighton implode) we got the best result. Win saturday at home gainst a team fighting relegation and it's 4 points from 2 in week again and a good return. On paper should we win? Of course, but guess what, football isn't played on paper but we got a point, didn't lose ground on the others despite not playing well. eelpie Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 7 shots on target, 4 shots off. My gripe about January is that we failed to buy a sharpshooter. Torrent Of Abuse Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Brighton are now out-of-sight. As others have said, it's a missed opportunity for all. Only Charlton would be really relieved with those results. He also believes that when Lallana plays, players around him are inspired to brilliance and reaches heights they had never been to before, they can streach higher to head crosses into the net, run faster, tackle and pass better, his mere presence on the pitch does this. Saint Without a Halo Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 one defeat in 11 terrible run of results Statistics bloody Statistics can be made to show anything! We are 10 points behind Brighton i.e for every 5 points we have got this season Brighton have got 6 Bournemouth remain ahead of us with no money their manager left them they have sold their best players and have a squad half the size of ours our average points per game is well under the 2 a game normally necessarry for 2nd spot! St Marco Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 I thought they beat Brighton? I may be wrong No you are right. They did win at home. They got hammered at Brighton. Hartlepool are one of those teams like us who seem to play better against the top teams and gash against the lower teams. They beat Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Brighton, Charlton and Oldham this season. They however have lost to so many other teams though. They lost at home to Daggers... So they are very much a team with no consistency. Which is just like us.

S-Clarke Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 TBH I think the ''everyone else drew'' is a little clutching at straws. I look at it as more of a missed opportunity, we're not going to get many more weeks where they all do us a favour like that (if any). This was the sort of game that we needed a scrappy 1-0 win. - It's definitely not as bad as it could have been, but that's more down to luck than us having a part to play in that. The Cat Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 Would have been great to sneak a win tonight but a draw is a decent result. Hartlepool have a good home record against the top sides.
