Guan 2.0 Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 I miss the guy. Met him a couple of times and seemed like a geuninely 'good' guy. Any chance he can get him back to do half time? I still credit our comeback 4-2 win against Newcastle in the rain at the dell to him and his HT pep talk. So much better than the current guy. On a related note, did Jim branning from eastenders once lead a brass band out on the pitch, or am I going mental.

You remember correctly, versus Coventry at home, we won so perhaps we should get him back ;-) Surreal though Jim the west Ham supporter leading a brass band playing You'll never walk Alone at a Saints game pure mental!

And yes, Rofe was a superb stadium compère, I have to agree. I might be looking at those memories far too positively though...
Deppo Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 I miss the guy. Met him a couple of times and seemed like a geuninely 'good' guy. I've got a pair of tight shorts and a bubble perm. I could come round yours and help you reminisce?
John Boy Saint Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 2 Things I remember about Dennis: a big dust up with Souness after a game. The other was before the infamous Norwich game relegation season, the players had done their warm up and were sat on the pitch in a circle around Dennis who was obviously giving them a pep talk, smashing his fist into his hand as he talked: we all know what happened in that game. For the fateful Manure game Bond was giving the chat and it lacked the passion of Dennis
70's Mike Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 Thing i remember was a game at The Dell, when he moved from the dug out to sit on the cinder track in front of the East Stand to gee the players up. of course the shorts and short sleeved shirt in all weathers
Eddie Lizzard Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 How much better he would be than the cringeworthy Stuart Dennis.
Redondo Saint Posted 23 February, 2011 Posted 23 February, 2011 I remember being at Staplewood when Berkovic had just been signed. Benali clatters him and Berkovic stays on the ground in a crumpled heap. Rofe tells him unless he is bleeding to get the feck up and get on with it!
Guan 2.0 Posted 24 February, 2011 Author Posted 24 February, 2011 How much better he would be than the cringeworthy Stuart Dennis. Plus 'one vision' to come out at the start of the match and half time:
Crab Lungs Posted 24 February, 2011 Posted 24 February, 2011 Plus 'one vision' to come out at the start of the match and half time: Oh the memories... Can anyone produce One Vision with an authentic Dell-esque tannoy crackle?
Pat from Poole Posted 24 February, 2011 Posted 24 February, 2011 Thing i remember was a game at The Dell, when he moved from the dug out to sit on the cinder track in front of the East Stand to gee the players up. of course the shorts and short sleeved shirt in all weathers I could not believe he would always wear that white T-shirt no matter how freezing it was. Proper madness at times. I liked him a lot, genuine Saints guy.

Cortese should have claimed this was the (early) official 125th year celebrations. Just for the reaction from some!
Redondo Saint Posted 25 February, 2011 Posted 25 February, 2011 Oh the memories... Can anyone produce One Vision with an authentic Dell-esque tannoy crackle? Great memories indeed!!!
kpturner Posted 25 February, 2011 Posted 25 February, 2011 Great memories indeed!!!I have got better ones......they don't involve football though.
Redondo Saint Posted 25 February, 2011 Posted 25 February, 2011 I have got better ones......they don't involve football though. Really?!! Not me, mine only involve football!
