So because they might have got the hump because the Club banned the press photographers, that gives them license to print garbage, to spread mischievous unfounded rumours designed to destabilise the club in a childish tit-for-tat revenge, does it?

 

And what is the result when the rumours are rubbished by the Club? The press are made to look stupid, thus decreasing their readership by normal intelligent people who feel no desire to spend their money on a gutter press publication.

 

So do you reckon that because of this situation there is any justification in them fabricating stories, or do you hold that the press have a duty to only publish stories that are news, i.e, factual? Because it seems to me that your post excuses them if it is found to the b*ll*cks that you assume it to be.

 

I'm just saying that if the club had a good relationship with the press, papers may be less inclined to publish unfounded speculation that may "destabalise" or annoy the club. I don't work in Newspapers so couldn't tell you if it would matter or not but I don't see how having a spat with the press would help.

 

SFC didn't give a monkeys about he effect of the photographers ban on the press, why should the press give a monkeys about the effect of a rumour on the club?

I did the St Marys tour recently and spoke to a few members of staff, including one of the security staff. I asked him a few basic questions and he couldn't/wouldn't answer any of them. He was adament that Nicola runs a VERY tight ship, information wise, and staff aren't told anything they don't need to know. So frankly, I don't believe this rumour, much like all the other rumours just recently that have turned out to be nonsense.

I wonder who might have been in Bompey today? Not that many really really noticeable expensive motor cars in the country, and how amusing that it was a mate who is staying here at the moment on business who heard about it as it was parked out side where his Fiancee works - oh how the great plans of Mice and Men fall apart

 

Very amusing to see how a few media sources seem to be dancing around at the moment.

 

If and it's a big IF, I have read this right we may have a new version of Bompey fan on a string to sing before too long.

Being restricted to my 3 posts a day I have to choose my moments carefully, but as the OP of this thread feel compelled to ask ........ WTF are you on about Phil

 

 

Over 100 posts, but most seemed to have missed my original point. I don't beleive the club is for sale for one minute, if it is I would assume that NC would remain in charge.

 

My point was that only last week the Daily Fail took a hammering on here (again) for Saints de-stabilising type stories, then the Southampton Echo, even more so in comments on it's own web-site. Maybe the latter has realised that negative stories could be affecting it's circulation. Even L Mac seemed to be writing a reconciliatory article.

 

But suddenly, the sports editor of a sister publication seems to be privy to such "secret" information. Could it be the **** stirrers are still stirring but now having to use a different mouthpiece?

Some people were interested in buying Bompey at the beginning of the season, Mitchell went to the Echo and chased them away.

 

Suddenly the same people who were interested in Bompey turn up on the Poopey takeover thread as being interested in buying them.

 

At the same time a new wave of stuff pops out from Bompey about Saints including somebody thinking we are for sale.

 

What I see here is a fantastic example of smoke & mirrors. Are the old Bompey buyers now having a pop at them again? but are they using other tricks to scare Bompey that they are currently Bompey (hence Chairman's) only hope and if he does not do a deal they are getting their revenge for the summer media attacks on them by using the media themselves to stir up rumours that they may walk to another club.

 

So I just saw some stuff, that made a lot of sense. I heard something totally unrelated about a particularly rare and expensive car parking up in Bompey yesterday and from the leak to the Echo last summer a very similar car was seen at Dean Court when there was interest.

 

So I think the banter in the press COULD be unrelated to us and part of what I think may be a possibly dirty war up west

 

I may also have totally misread it so I put it in vague terms. I liked vague, 'cos when I put it this way round I come across as a raving looney great big pratt

Speculative to say the least but in the context of events it could just make sense.
