Eastleigh vs Dover tonight

Went to watch The Spitfires tonight play against Dover Athletic and tbh they were woeful, terrible pitch too. The home fans were so quiet it was embarrasing emphasised by the almost constant singing (and godawful drumming) from the travelling Whites support.

 

Dover got a decent start with an early goal and an Adam Birchill (sp) strike in the last minute which was imo coming all night. He's not that quick but perseveres and was turning this man inside out all night. Got a bit dirty in parts from Dover and I was surprised that no cards were shown to them then again the ref had a better view than me.

 

If that is the standard of Blue Square promotion hopefuls then success will be fairly short lived. Each of their 3 subs made little or no impact whereas Dover's fresh legs altered the tempo and shape of the game, I am guessing that even at non-league level strength in depth is what seperates the men from the boys.

 

Decent pint of IPA though and staff very friendly.
