Roger Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 (edited) I started going everyweek then. My order would be: 1. Shilton 2. Niemi 3. Flowers 4. Jones 5. Brucie Any thoughts. Havent included kelv as he wasnt in premier league. Edited 21 February, 2011 by Roger
eastleighhalo Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 I would put paul jones above brucie and beasant personally
Dimond Geezer Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 If we are taking just their time at Saints into consideration: Shilts Flowers Niemi Jones Budgie Beasant If we are talking about their entire careers: Shilts Brucie Flowers Niemi Woods Beasant
chrisobee Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Shilton is our best goalkeeper ever, Niemi would be 2nd choice for me. I liked Grobellar even though he gave us some really hair raising moments! Tim Flowers was very good, possibly underrated. Paul Jones was also very consistent.
Rory Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Beasant's pinpoint pass to John Barnes in 1996 was spectacular.
fish fingers Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 1. Ian Andrews 2. Neil Moss 3. Michael Stensgaard 4. Chris Woods
Bucks Saint Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 I'd put Maik Taylor in there somewhere. Beat me to it. +1 defo
Scudamore Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 I bet someone will say Dexter Blackstock. I'll give you 100/1 they don't...
Gemmel Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Kelvin Davis. Deppo, will you please try harder? Davis is not in the top 5, so please rethink and come back with a proper answer and stop mucking around.
Window Cleaner Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 I've just noticed that Bob Charles isn't on the wiki list of past and present Saints players. Not that it's anything to do with this thread of course.Perhaps one of our wikiesxperts could rectify that. I'm sure Duncan could fill you in on him.
SNSUN Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 4. Chris Woods Lol I could've done a better job. One of the rare times an injury to a player improved the side.
MarkSFC Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Beasant's pinpoint pass to John Barnes in 1996 was spectacular. yeah that was glorious!!
MarkSFC Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 No-one has ever come anywhere near Shilts. In 1982 when he joined I was on a summer football course and we were on the pitch during a tour of The Dell when in ran two blokes. Quickly our coach realised who one of them was and mentioned that if you want an example of a true pro then look out there at Peter Shilton. He doesnt have to report back for pre-season for a week or two yet here he is training. Made quite an impression on a 13 year old!
mitch01 Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Niemi maintained the highest level of performance out of any player I have ever seen at SFC, then again I've only been a supporter for 10 years.
paulwantsapint Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Never saw shilts or budgie so 1 niemi 2 flowers 3 jones 4 taylor 5 beasent
aintforever Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 1. Shilts 2. Neimi 3. Flowers 4. Jones 5. Beasant Was a tough choice between Beasant and Brucie for no5 but I gave it to Dodgy Dave for telling that joke to the entire away end at Alan Night's testimonial.
Saint Stimp Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Anyone know if there's a video of Niemi hitting the bar vs Fulham about? Where Svensson heads in from the rebound?
K,Billy's supersound Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 Michael Stensgaard gotta be in with a shout, top 5 in anyones list i'm sure
farawaysaint Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 I'll give you 100/1 they don't... Put me down for 100 quid please. Dexter Blackstock is our greatest goalie ever perfect record of clean sheets.
