Lets B Avenue Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 How are quarter final draw worked out? I cant find it anywhere. I'm assuming its first in one group plays fourth in the other .. Correct. It looked like Sri Lanka if we finish 3rd, but the way the Aussies are batting at the moment 144-6, we could end up playing them. That would be a novelty! (Still cant get a smilie to work, dammit)

OldNick Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 Should be Aussies unless Pakistan show their remarkable ability to collapse under pressure I assume it depends on what team the wickie has been told who to help win
farawaysaint Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 I assume it depends on what team the wickie has been told who to help win Akmal is just ridiculous, how he manages to hold onto his job is beyond me it's bizarre. He obviously can play as a keeper which makes his numerous gaffes and inconsistencies all the more suspicious. Of course having your brother fake injury every time it looks like you'll be dropped has to help.

I dont think i could play in a team with a player who makes mistakes like that, unless i was on a scam Lol
chrisobee Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 QF line-up: 24th - Ind v Aus in Ahd, 26th - Eng v SL in Colombo, WI-Pak and SA-NZ will play in Mirpur, one of them on 23rd and other on 25th- to be decided which match is on which date.
farawaysaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Right, we're at the fun end of the competition now the associates are out prediction time everybody! Pakistan should beat West Indies but don't see them going all the way, semi-finals West Indies Quarter finalists India vs Australia too close to call with both teams having been shown glaring holes in their respective game plans. I'm giving it to the Aussies because I've been more impressed with them than India. India Quarter finalists Australia Finalists as they should beat the Pakistanis in the semis if Afridi's men take the Windies Sri Lanka vs England Hate to say it guys but I'm going with the Sri Lankans on this one because frankly only an insane man would bet on England to win any single game in this tournament. England Quarter Finalists Sri Lanka Finalists South Africa vs New Zealand, yes I'm a yarpie but I've got to go with the men in green here New Zealand Quarter finalists South Africa Semi finalists (If England go through I think they might make the finals but frankly I don't see them beating Sri Lanka in the semis if Murali has anything to say about it.) Final prediction Sri Lanka vs Australia. I think a rather boring repeat of the last tournament final is on the cards but see Sri Lanka sneaking it this time as the Aussies frankly look much weaker. Sri Lanka Winners
chrisobee Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20110321/ten-uk-cricket-world-strengths-3a09e87.html ENGLAND Strengths: * Showed their mental strength by surviving six close games. * Most number of runouts 8 Weaknesses: * Lower middle order has lowest average runs (12.5) at relatively poor strike rate (77.3) * Poorest performance during batting powerplay with a run rate (6.4) and an average of 12.9 * Poorest bowling performance so far with the worst economy rate (5.4 runs per over), average (30.9) and a strike rate (34.2) only better than Australia. * Poorest economy (5.8 and average (37.8 in powerplay bowling SRI LANKA Strengths: * Best opening batting performance, including highest average opening partnership (85.3), high strike rate (92.2) * Second highest runs per wicket scored (51.5) at run rate of 6.2 runs per over during powerplays while batting * Second best bowling performance, behind SA Best economy rate (4.3) with second best average runs per wicket (18.8 and strike rate (26.1) * Best spin bowling performance with economy (3.5) behind the Kiwis and average (16.7) second to South Africa Weaknesses: " * Second highest number of run outs (5) conceded and extras (7.7%) higher than some other teams. In simple terms we are probably going to need Sri Lanka to concede a ton of extras and for their batsmen to get run out and even then the odds of around 13/8 on England winning don't seem very generous!
Hatch Posted 23 March, 2011 Posted 23 March, 2011 Touch and go, but I suspect Pakistan might sneak this one 58-0 after 10 overs , chasing 112.
farawaysaint Posted 23 March, 2011 Posted 23 March, 2011 Right, that's one prediction right Now I guarantee every other one I've made the opposite will happen.
Hatch Posted 25 March, 2011 Posted 25 March, 2011 South Africa struggling at the moment. You never know,. England could still win this bloody thing.
dubai_phil Posted 25 March, 2011 Posted 25 March, 2011 South Africa struggling at the moment. You never know,. England could still win this bloody thing. Busy day, had 100's of call outs to Yarpies to perform the Heimlich manouvere. Good thing is we lasted longer than the Aussies or the Yarpies even when we get to fly home tomorrow after turned into mincemeat by the 3M's The slinger Murali & Mendis Gonna spend the day stalking maids locally, ONE of them will have TV feed from SL
chrisobee Posted 26 March, 2011 Posted 26 March, 2011 Right, that's one prediction right Now I guarantee every other one I've made the opposite will happen. Good, Australia lost, SA lost. Just need you to be wrong again as guaranteed !
farawaysaint Posted 26 March, 2011 Posted 26 March, 2011 Good, Australia lost, SA lost. Just need you to be wrong again as guaranteed ! This is why I no longer bet on sports Ah well, now that South Africa have done their inevitable choke I shall move on to supporting the least objectionable teams remaining. Come on NZ and England!
Crab Lungs Posted 26 March, 2011 Posted 26 March, 2011 4 boundaries in 27 overs... England 95-2 Bopara gone.... 95-3 Bring in Morgan.... PLEASE!
fanimal Posted 26 March, 2011 Posted 26 March, 2011 Good straight bowling by SL, but we cant seem to hit the odd full ball past the infield for a boundary!
Jimmy_D Posted 26 March, 2011 Posted 26 March, 2011 Dropping Morgan that many times will end up losing them this match... Then we have a match against NZ for a final place!
Saint in Paradise Posted 2 April, 2011 Author Posted 2 April, 2011 Pleased India won in the end, I would have preferred NZ but never mind at least Sri Lanka and Australia LOST Actually even if Australia had won as long as SL didn't that is the main thing for myself.2 "players"(?) who shall not be named are to blame for my intense dislike of SL. Roll on the next W.C. .
Gorgiesaint Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Well done to India for a deserved victory, playing with that weight of expectation would not have been easy. A slight anti-climax with Sachin only getting 18 and Murali not taking a wicket but there you go. Let's hope England are better organised next time round, I see Strauss is the fall guy as captain this time round, nothing to do with the team selection or selectors for starting the tournament playing only one front line spinner when most teams were playing 3. Who would have thought that spin would have been effective on crumbly pitches in the Indian sub-continent!
Fowllyd Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Massive respect to MS Dhoni. It's a tough run chase, your team's third wicket has just fallen and the game's finely poised. You've been out of form with the bat all through the tournament. So, as captain, what do you do? Well, if you're Dhoni you bite the bullet, promote yourself to four in the order, then go on to make an unbeaten 91 off 79 deliveries, finishing off the innings and match with a magnificent six. Bloody hell.
