Saint in Paradise Posted 20 February, 2011 Posted 20 February, 2011 NZ beat Kenya by 10 wickets. Kenya all out 69.
chrisobee Posted 21 February, 2011 Posted 21 February, 2011 There sure are some real mis-matches early on !
keithd Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 Good start so far by England.... the mighty Netherlands enjoying themselves on a slow wicket. 200 less a bit of change, only 4 down, 10 overs to go....
Nellie Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 There sure are some real mis-matches early on ! Yeah, tell me about it. I think I'm watching one at the moment.
skintsaint Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 this is why we wont win the WC...like we had a chance anyway. (alpine moment)
Trader Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 England playing like a bunch of tossers. As Botham says - this is schoolboy stuff.
Minty Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 There sure are some real mis-matches early on ! England vs Netherlands clearly being one of them, by the looks of things. I made less mistakes playing for Hythe and Dibden IV team in the New Forest League...
Hatch Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 disgraceful. There have been some shocking performances over the years, this is right up there with the best of them.
Evil Monkey Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 Might as well make the most of this facrical display. £10 on the Dutch at 5/2.
Minty Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 Actually, that was SO bad, we'll probably go and win the tournament now...
saint1977 Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 Anderson bowled dreadfully and I'm really not sure Broad shouldn't have had some domestic cricket in the southern hemisphere to ensure his fitness first. The Dutch seem to be England's cricket bogey team and after beating us at Lord's in the World T20 I can understand their confidence. The batters are going to have to go some here and score at a good lick - KP is due a big score. Got a feeling we'll win with 4 balls to spare but Flower should be reading them the riot act and we definately need fresh blood into the ODI team this summer.
Minty Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 155-1 off 27.5 so far... I'll not tempt fate however, this is England after all.
Minty Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 16 to win off 14 balls... lol... Netherlands bowling has been nothing special but it just highlights how bad ours was.
skintsaint Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 made hard work of that....good win though given the circumstances.
Colinjb Posted 22 February, 2011 Posted 22 February, 2011 That was cutting it fine. Bopara really dug it out well at the end there.
Saint in Paradise Posted 25 February, 2011 Author Posted 25 February, 2011 There sure are some real mis-matches early on ! Yes NZ are 78 - 6 after 19 overs against Aussie:(
Hatch Posted 25 February, 2011 Posted 25 February, 2011 NZ bowled 27 wides so far after only 30 overs!
Saint in Paradise Posted 27 February, 2011 Author Posted 27 February, 2011 Must be time to think of giving Collingwood a "rest" ?
ecuk268 Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Cracking match though, could have gone either way. Don't see many draws in 50-over games.
wadesmith Posted 27 February, 2011 Posted 27 February, 2011 Cracking match though, could have gone either way. Don't see many draws in 50-over games. This was a 'tie'' not a 'draw'. I think it's only a 'draw if it's rained off. Actually that may be a 'no result' i'll be honest i never understood the difference between a 'tie' and a ''draw'. Maybye someone can help me out here.

According to my dictionary, a draw is a contest that ends in a tie.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 February, 2011 Posted 28 February, 2011 According to my dictionary, a draw is a contest that ends in a tie. But not in Cricket. A draw is a game that fails to produce a result, but in cricket there are 3 results possible,a win for either side or a tie,ie the scores being equal at the end of play.
Evil Monkey Posted 28 February, 2011 Posted 28 February, 2011 Kieron Pollard is a beast. 32 off 12 atm, facing seam bowling wearing a sun hat.
wadesmith Posted 28 February, 2011 Posted 28 February, 2011 According to my dictionary, a draw is a contest that ends in a tie. In cricket a 'tie' is when both sides finish with the same amount of runs, a 'draw' in an inconclusive result
stedje Posted 28 February, 2011 Posted 28 February, 2011 I am amazed by the fact that so many of you are interested in probably the most boring sport ever invented. (probably got something to do with the fact that I don`t understand the rules).
chrisobee Posted 28 February, 2011 Posted 28 February, 2011 I am amazed by the fact that so many of you are interested in probably the most boring sport ever invented. (probably got something to do with the fact that I don`t understand the rules). The rules are simple ! The Rules of Cricket You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
Hatch Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Ireland going bloomin mental at the moment, OBrien 93 not out off 45 balls. England will lose unless they get him out.

Evil Monkey Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Fastest century in WC history. 100 from 50 balls. Incredible. Why cant England bowl out this glorified potato farmer???
fish fingers Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Ireland going bloomin mental at the moment, OBrien 93 not out off 45 balls. England will lose unless they get him out. I assume he'll be playing for us by the summer.
Minty Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Why cant England bowl? That sums it up. Hardly any yorkers, far too many short and wide balls. Amateurish bowling. Not to take away from the Irish batting effort but we've bowled very poorly.
bridge too far Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Cricket WC is about right ATM since we're currently going right down the toilet
Minty Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Fair play to Ireland but England should be ashamed of that bowling and fielding.
Saint in Paradise Posted 2 March, 2011 Author Posted 2 March, 2011 What a horrible few days, Saints lose, England lose and that lot down the road keep winning.
fanimal Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 What a horrible few days, Saints lose, England lose and that lot down the road keep winning - I am glad someone else feels sick like me!!
saint_jas Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 What a horrible few days, Saints lose, England lose and that lot down the road keep winning - I am glad someone else feels sick like me!! Not happy either at the moment so much so the Indian in the office who hasn't shut up about it can find his own bloody way home tonight. Sod giving him a lift.
Deppo Posted 2 March, 2011 Posted 2 March, 2011 Not happy either at the moment so much so the Indian in the office who hasn't shut up about it can find his own bloody way home tonight. Sod giving him a lift. The correct term is 'Native American'.
chrisobee Posted 4 March, 2011 Posted 4 March, 2011 (edited) Just caught up with the highlights of Pakistan v Canada. Great bowling performance by Canada but Shahid Afridi saved Pakistan again. Quite amusing when Canada batted. Umar Gul had a loud shout against Gunasekera for lbw, looked plumb to me but given not out. Pakistan didn't even seem sure whether to review, they did in the end and the ball was hitting middle stump, half way up. So one correct referral. A few balls later Razzaq had an lbw appeal given out, fair to say it looked to be missing leg. Canada referred it, the ball was missing leg stump, so another correct referral but 2 very iffy umpiring decisions ! Well clearly 2 wrong decisions, the 2nd was not so clear cut so fair enough but the 1st was so clearly out I cannot believe it was given not out. It was one of those where you instinctively know it is out. Edit : 3rd incorrect lbw decision, looked to be too high but given out. Referred, not out. 4th lbw decision, Afridi appeals, not out. Referred again. Is out Edit again: Another review, umpire ( Daryll Harper) gives not out. Reviewed, out again . Now 5/5 correct referrals ! The umpires are looking a bit silly to say the least Edited 4 March, 2011 by chrisobee
Saint in Paradise Posted 6 March, 2011 Author Posted 6 March, 2011 England vs South Africa 149 - 6 after 41 overs Bopara out for 60
Saint in Paradise Posted 6 March, 2011 Author Posted 6 March, 2011 171 All Out, oh dear still it aparently is a spinners wicket so we will see.
dubai_phil Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Yeah so the whole tournament is on pitches that turn miles and favour the spinners and we take Yardy who has totally lost form since the ODI's in Aus. Look at the SA line up 7 bowlers used and loads of tweakers. Just felt we are too rigid in our best team concept in these tournaments (look how long it took to drop Colly) as well as being burnt out from the Ashes. Luckily we'll now get knocked out by WI and won't have to worry about it
farawaysaint Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 I love being South African right up until we choke in the semis yet again.
mdearlove Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 could be close - SA just lost 3 wickets for no run - 125-6
