Saints shirt collectors ?

I've got every shirt from '76 onwards except the 3 obvious ones. The 'Air Florida' all red strip only worn once away at Blackburn. The Yellow Hummel 3rd shirt witha white and green trim that was worn at Spurs, QPR and Luton and the White Hummel 3rd shirt with black chevrons on the sleeve that was worn at Liverpool. None of these were ever made available to the public.

Yes that all red shirt could well be the rarest Saints shirt ever. However it did get more than one one outing as it was worn at QPR and West Brom that season. In fact the design made its debut at West Brom away in September 1980, but then it would have had Rank Xerox sponsorship - although if the game was on TV it would be a plain version as sponsors couldn't be shown on TV until 83.

The yellow Hummel shirt was first worn away at Derby in September 89. It wasn't used at QPR, but it was used at Luton, Spurs and Arsenal.

The white third shirt made its debut in the last away game of the 87-88 season at Liverpool. Next season it was almost the 2nd choice shirt being worn at Manchester United, Charlton, Middlesbrough, Forest, West Ham and Villa.

Does anyone have a genuine old gold shirt from the 60s? I would love to see one.

Classic Football Shirts have a few of the Patrick Era ones that are tough to get, expensive though...

I started with the Denmark Hummel 88 and have almost everyone since due to my superstition of having to wear the right shirt for every game.

Incidently, it was my fault we didn't beat Hartlepool on Tuesday. The website said we would be in White and I only travelled with the one shirt,

despite my brain telling me that Hartlepool B&W is actually one blue stripe. I'm always taking both shirts now regardless.

We obviously have very similar collections. I too am only missing the 3 shirts that you mention. Sadly, I doubt we'll ever find them. :-/

Why don't you flog some of them? Seem wasted in a loft. I'll buy some ;)

I just cannot let go of them. When we have a loft clear out, I get them out and feel real nostalgia and the oldest take me back to when I was 14. That is a lot to just give away!

Yeah fair enough. I completely understand that! If you do ever decide to sell some though, let me know. I'm always looking to boost my collection and they will be very much looked after at my house

I've got Jeff Kenna's home shirt from the last game of the 1993/94 season (I think. Dimplex shirt), very match scarred and as pointed out is different to the replica kits of the time with stitched badges etc. rather than printed stuck on ones. Only "collectable" one I have come across, all the others get chucked out.

I have an old shirt, must be from around 1995, its cream with blue on the sides and sanderson sponsor. I have a feeling it was a third away shirt, I really can't recall it ever being worn though

Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

I think the official name for the colour is Ecru. Was worn once against Charlton or Palace from memory.

Does anyone have the one off Yellow from the Newcastle game last year? I wonder what the club did with them since we changed supplier? I tweeted kitman Forbesy but he never replied.

You weren't the only one.

Tbh though I prefer replicas to matchworn. I have no idea why this is.

Is a player-issued but never worn away shirt for the 2003/04 Uefa campaign one worth hanging on to?

As I also have one (EDIT, no I don't, you're talking about a yellow away one with Euro/FA Cup numbering on the back - I never noticed that the 2003-era players' shirts didn't have the Saints embroidery on them before). They went into the stockroom for me when I got there to collect my Steaua match ticket, they'd already sold out of XL in the "with a shield on the back" replicas. This is a rare occasion when I like my quirky not-matchworn better than the standard replica one.

I picked up a grey/yellow GK shirt from last season on eBay last week, some Skate selling it thought it was a training kit but it wasn't, plus I'm fairly sure we only sold the green/red and the yellow/navy ones, so that's a bit of a coup. Even though they weren't only used in the Newcastle match the way the yellow shirts were, there are probably fewer of those than the yellow shirts.

I actually sold quite a few shirts as a result of this thread last time as I went through and stocktook them all and got rid of a load of duplicates, I have now started picking up the odd one here and there but not too worried about completing the set as basically it isn't possible.

Still don't have the one St Chalet has 4 of though. :D
