dune Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 Or more specifically connecting chinese adapapters to chinese made UK plug adapter things. Just had a digital to analog audio converter arrive off ebay (from Hong Kong ) and theres like two flat pins that got into a UK plug adpater thing (looks like theres no fuse in it) and the said flat pins appear to be Neutral and Live (but dunno which is which). I could obviously do eeeny meeny miny mo (the PC version of course) but am a little concerned about it not being a good idea to mix up neutral and live as well as being concerned there is no fuse + there not being an earth also isn't great i wouldn't think. Help.
Wurzel Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 I've always worked on the basis that if it CAN go in either way then it doesn't matter which way. Go on give it a go. No liability accepted etc etc

scotty Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 shouldnt be a problem, like wurzel said if its possible to plug it in either way it ought to work either way.

dickyhale Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 I had the same sort of thing form HK so l took the light to Clarence Hardware Store at Foyes Corner, Freemantle or Maplins (by Bargate) and he sold me a Travel Adaptor Plug: Worldwide / European Visitor To Uk. If you can wait you can get one cheaper online.... The plug cost just as much as the light.

dune Posted 18 February, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 February, 2011 All done. All working. It may have been luck or maybe it could go either way. That said i'm not going to try it the other way just in case.

thesaint sfc Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 I've managed to plug plugs into plug sockets before if that helps? I found it pretty easy, but you have to remember to turn the plug socket on afterwards using the switch.
Window Cleaner Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 Why bother with a converter, if it's the same current as a UK appliance then just whip the plug off with a Stanley Knife and put a normal UK plug (with a 2/3 amp fuse at first) back on. Brown=Live, Blue = Neutral.
