Saints have signed goalkeeper James Shea on loan from Arsenal following an injury to Bartosz Bialkowski.

Shea, 19, has joined for one month and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Rochdale. The young 'keeper is known for his superb shot-stopping ability, and he has recently signed a contract extension with the Gunners, who rate the youngster highly.

2+2=5 alert....

This perhaps suggests our dialogue with Arsenal (re: Chamberlain) during the transfer window was more amicable than Cortese's Daily Telegraph interview portrayed....?

The Arsenal OS hinting that he's here to get first team experience rather than just keeping the bench warm.....

"James will now hope to taste competitive action with the Saints"

Hardly hinting that he's joined us for first team experience. Any footballer going on loan will be hoping for first team experience, but everyone knows that opportunities for keepers are massively restricted. Everyone involved with the deal will know that he is cover for our number 2 and so will only be called upon in an emergency.

Looks as if he needs a bit of meat on him to fill out that dressing gown he's wearing.

I see that according to the Echo Saints have loaned Arsenal keeper James Shea. Really a from a newspaper with some sort of journalistic skills you'd expect better. NB: Echo, you cannot loan something which you do not own, you can take it on loan though.

Would have thought that Poke would have been our next back up, I hadn't realised that he had even left, just checked and he's at Brighton, anyone if he at least even makes the bench there?

Not usually no,Ankergren starts and Brezovan is on the bench. However the latter plays cup games and Poke did get one Cup start JPT maybe.

Of all the teams I would rather us not sign a goalie from Arsenal has to be top of the list, I mean, old Arsene doesn't have the best track record at picking them does he...

Was really hoping that this was a replacement for Davis. Hope he plays.

WTF some kid on loan just out of nappies. If Nigel has any intention of replacing Kelvin, Bart would have been a regular in goal for some time. Seeing as Kelvin is still getting picked on a regular basis I think it's fair to say that Nigel still rates Kelvin. We need cover for an injuried Bart, Forecast ain't upto it so this kid is coming for a month. Replacement for Davis ..........:shakey:

I prefer the term "borrowed" for that instance. Even when I was a kid about half of my class didn't understand that you loaned something to someone and borrowed it from them.

But TBF i have thought for a little while that the Chambo deal may well already be signed sealed and delivered.

Perhaps

I hope i am wrong, all i will say is Christiano Ronaldo.

They will never admit it is a done deal, but i honestly wouldn't be surprised if he moves in the summer to Arsenal.

Neither would I.

Got to say tho, if I'd been offered a choice between Adam Lallana or AOC staying here, I'd have snapped AL's hand off getting him to sign a 4 year contract.

He is their fourth keeper, so going back in time to our prem league days would we have felt comfortable with a keeper to the standard of Scott Bevan, Andrew McNeill, Poke or Darryl Flahavan in goal...i dont think so.
