Not seeing the main board

Can you change the forum so that you can see the main board when you're not logged in? I know this was originally done to make the board work better in busy periods, but it puts a lot of new people off the site. I directed someone here the other day, and they didn't even realise there was a main board until I explained that they had to sign up and log in first.

 

Surely, seeing as 99.9% first visit this site to see Saints related stuff, it'd make more sense to have it so that the main board WAS visible and all the others weren't?

Also, how come even when I'm signed in sometimes I still cant see the main board? I usually have to log in, go into another forum and then go back again before I can see it.
