What the f*ck?!! this is what football is coming to nowdays, and a sad indication of the country we live in, sounds like he has been arrested under section 5 public order act, through which they have to prove his actions, words / behaviour caused harrassment, alarm or distress to others.

It is a hard one to defend, as how much alarm or distress caused can vary widely from individual to individual , this is a classic case of the old bill taking their powers to the extreme, giving him bail conditions restricting his liberty to watch a football match when he is yet to even be "found" guilty. Ironically, it seems only through the video being on youtube has this offence been commited, as clearly no one in the immediate area appears to be a victim of this "crime"

what a joke this country is, at least when the cuts come into place the police with have to start prioritising on real crime surely?

No it may make things worse as i think you will find that this would count as a solved case and so as a crime figure. A crime has been committed and been found, aka speeding they are part of the crime clear up figures. I await to be corrected but I think this is what happens.

surely the point here is that his offence did not take place at the venue, eg the person claiming to have been caused harrasment , alarm or distress was not there but watched it on the internet. therefore, some people on here could be arrested for causing harrasment , alarm or distress through their internet posts............ where do you draw the line?

in anycase who decides if his actions are likely to cause harrasment, distress or alarm? You could apply a whole host of scenarios to this. For example that video that was on here a year or so ago with loads of Saints fans barn dancing on Yeovil station, even though they were doing nothing wrong a 75 year old nun could have been "alarmed" at a load of drunk football fans singing and dancing but a 20 year old football fan going homoe from the game would not have been. In cases like this where there is no one present appearing to be a "victim" what is the benchmark for if actions are alarming or distressing? In whos opinion is it?

Is that it? So, you have some ***** making '1958' references with his fingers.....and?

At this rate there will be mass arrests at football matches in the near future. I wonder if they will video Man Utd fans, when they play Liverpool and arrest those who sing about the deaths of Liverpool fans at the cup semi, as some sections of Utd fanbase like to

I guess it's safe not to sing "....and the RAF from England shot one down.... " Will this warrant a six month stretch soon?

Come on, let's use a bit of common sense here, the blokes probably just a bit of a knobjockey off some council estate, there are millions of his mentality all over the country, we'll be arresting anyone at this rate, lets get a grip before we become more oppressive or more of a Police state than Iran, Libya, China etc

I think it is perfectly fine for him to disrespect the dead, unless of course he is a Muslim and the dead are soldiers, in which case he should be vilified. And not just him. If, say, he believes in Father Christmas, then everybody else who believes in Father Christmas should be vilified too.

Utterly ridiculous, silly thing to do maybe but to arrest him for a few silly hand signals is crazy, have the OB got nothing better to do with their time?

Actually it's a very good sign that they did arrest him.

It shows that the Police have solved ALL the other crimes in the country.

We now live in a safer world.

S5 can be displayed in images and video. So anyone watching the video is in the immediate area (The computer where the video is being played) If someone complains then the police will act. I doubt the CPS will prosecute though. Even so it has taught this muppet a lesson!

Does that mean if I am caused harrasment, alarm or distress while watching Eastenders one of the actors can be arrested?

They should f*cking well arrest Alfie Moon in that cases as he causes me distress everytime he comes on the telly. I am going to write a strongly worded email to the BBC expressing my outrage at this.
