bournemouth crack me up. they are trying so hard to turn this into a hate filled occasion... do they really want 10k saints fans there on friday and saturday night looking for trouble? because this looks like the way it's gonna go if they keep being such bells. bournemouth, no one cares about you!

They are so far under our radar that even that will not happen.

Leave that to the Leeds boys for next season if Bompey get promoted.

I love how people compare really cr*p chairmen with ours as if that then means we can excuse ours every time we feel there is room for improvement.

Not at all. We ought to realise that in many ways we are lucky that we are run by professional people instead of these idiots like Mitchell.

Don't you think that we are lucky? Or would you prefer this "shoot from the lip" approach typified by this petty little story, which is probably only in print to feed the ego of a total non-entity?

If no one cares why would 10k Saints fans turn up looking for trouble? Can't have it both ways.

They are having their season in the sun and i don't blame them making the most of it. For years they were the poor relation on the South Coast and if i were them i would love looking down on the saints. The only way to put things right is by putting things right on the pitch and getting back to the premier league...this is what counts.

To be fair, this idiot Mitchell has his side 5 points above us in a promotion place, having spent naff all.

A classic example of shouting your mouth off before engaging the brain. He's obviously not considered the fact that by inviting more Saints supporters into his Boardroom, he is very quickly becoming extremely outnumbered. I for one encourage him to invite as many as possible as he will look a complete twit when we win.

Was that what we were discussing? Or was it about the puerile behaviour of Mitchell?

Just putting it into perspective, Mitchell is being portrayed as some sort of loud mouthed idiot yet on results so far he is out performing our chairman.

He's obviously a t!t, but I expect he's just trying to drum up interest to sell some tickets, nothing wrong with that.

How is he out performing Cortese?

The players he employs are but not if we win our games in hand.

He has a ramshackle 3 sided hovel of a stadium and no infrastructure...

Cortese wins hands down methinks...

You seriously think, given the resources available to both chairman, that SFC have been out performing Bournemouth this season? Bizarre!

You didn't read Daren's post very well. He admitted that they were above us currently, but not if we win our games in hand. In terms of the way that both clubs are run and the performances of both Chairmen, I'd say that Cortese was outperforming Mitchell hands down. Would you rather have Mitchell?

They're gonna love this thread. Same reaction everytime:

"Ooooooh look, they're talking about us. THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT US! It must be their cup final too!!1 hehe"

No way should this game be on tv. I wouldn't be able to listen to sky pundits referring to it as a "rivalry". It's a one sided rivalry, that's all.

Of course I wouldn't rather have Mitchell, but football clubs are judged on results and at the moment, given the resources they have, Bournemouth have WAY out performed Saints, even if we win our games in hand (which we might not).

We have spent more than any other League 1 club, Bournemouth have sold 3 of their best players and hardly spent a penny - mid-table would have been a good achievement for them this season.

If Cortese had us in 2nd spot, having not spent a penny, cashed in on 3 of our best players and promoted a player to manager he would be being hailed as a genius.

Everybody keeps saying we don't care about them, but the atmosphere at the last home game against them plus the number of people who want tickets for this one shows otherwise.

Them having a major interest in us = Us having more of an interest in them.

Quite simple really. And of course alot of people want tickets for this one. We have a big fanbase, it's down the road, and they're next to us in the league. Doesn't mean we hate them....

I do not know anything about Mitchell so I cannot comment

bournemouth are doing really well at the moment and should be congratulated on what they have achieved this season on limited resources

Mitchell was on the TV program about Sandbanks a couple of years ago.

IMO he "talks up" the value of properties all the time. He even showed Piers Morgan around "Thunderbirds" WHICH IS 2 MILES AWAY from Sandbanks in Branksome Park and had nothing to do with Sandbanks.

http://primetime.unrealitytv.co.uk/sandbanks-with-piers-morgan/

Eddie Mitchell – the property developer responsible for innovative creations such as Thunderbird – a five bedroom copper roofed semi-circular dream home on the market for £3.25 million – is being met with ripples of resentment from some Sandbanks old timers, who are concerned about the pressure they say such development is putting on local amenities, as well as worries about it spoiling the area’s original character.

(read the comments from other people in that link and you will understand what the locals think of him).

Of course we are lucky to not have Mitchell and Cortese has quite a few positives. Not sure why you think I would prefer the Mitchell approach, I don't think I gave that impression anywhere in my first comment. There are negatives to the Cortese approach and maybe in some smaller areas he could learn from Mitchell (FULLY emracing club history for one.)

I think most people would rather have Cortese, but that doesn't make Cortese immune from criticism

Where does anyone in this thread say cortese is perfect? Don't be so paranoid.

And yet it's fine for Wes to suggest that I would rather have Mitchell when I never said anything of the sort! I am just reminding people that the actions of one crap chairman does not excuse the actions of another chairman even if that chairman is 'better.'

Mitchell is personally outperforming Cortese is he? So they both mange the team now? Cortese can only do so much, it's down to the manager as to where we are in the league. Same goes for Mitchell. It's not his doing that they're in second, it's Eddie Howe's and their gang spirit.

Cortese is so much better in terms of progressing the club infrastructure and squad, but he's obviously got his flaws, one being PR and how to deal with "legends". How someone can say they'd rather have Mitchell is mental.

Anyway, we really have to perform well purely to ram it down Mitchell's throat. Few anti-Mitchell songs methinks.

Well yes but the infrastrutcture and players stem from finance. I'm sure Mitchell would if he could!

No one has said they would rather have Mitchell but the success of a football club is judged by how well the team is doing, not by what buildings have been built. The Chairman is ultimately responsible for that success because he chooses the manager, creates the environment for him to work in and signs the cheques for the players.

I am more than happy with how things are going at Saints, just think Bournemouth have done very well and it's only fair Mitchell should take credit for that

Every time I read their message board it makes me feel sick. I don't think Saints fans are arrogant (as we are often accused) but any fan can be forgiven for flicking the V's at Portsmouth's retarded brother, dribbling out Scummer insults at every opportunity trying to get attention.

They deserve a massive, massive hammering.

I think to a certain degree we are, as a collective. With nearly 25 consecutive years in the top flight, the advent of moving from a 'ground' to a stadium, One of the most talented players in the modern game, suffering two rapid succesions, then being saved by a Billionaire and a determined chairman. It has the right mix of historical pride, new expectations, and then sudden despair before great expecations and looking to be be above where we have been even in our 'glory' days.

All this while in a league conataining teams with low crowds, crumbling stadia, and minimal budgets.

This adds up to many taking the 'we will walk this league' approach, as it's still new to the majority of saints fans.

That's why any negative comments on other boards (sometimes for other teams 'daring' to say that they might beat us) are linked and set upon. This thread is proof ."That Bompey idiot, he thinks we care about them, let's create a thread about the subject to show how much we don't care" .

I don't think it's right, but I see how it can happen. I Also can see why other fans think we are arrogant.

For my part, I think we can win this league, only 70% sure we will though. I think we'll come second, with bournemouth's lack of depth costing them close to the end.

Did anyone hear his phone call to Solent yestday.Think Rolly upset him when he text the radio saying that we were sat in the main stand and the only two fans that where happy to see that goal go in. All his s-it about finishing above us he has a jealouus attitude towards SFC. We text Solent again to say "make mind a double on March 12th and that he sounded loke a frightined chairman. As Keegan said "I would love it if we beat them"
