Gemmel Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 Given the sentances that our fans got, following the blue fews last visit and then the Maze hill sentances before that, what would you get for an actual headbutt at football? Whilst I know there is absolutely no chance of Gattuso getting a banning order, surely he should? If someone football heatbutted someone else at a match, based on the sentances to date, what would that carry? - 4 or 5 years? and a lifetime ban

Pancake Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 Didnt FIFA gives Zidane something like a 3 game ban (even though it was his last game)?
Gemmel Posted 16 February, 2011 Author Posted 16 February, 2011 I'm not talking FIFA sanctions, I am talking Criminal / Police action - Surely if someone gets a life time ban from throwing something in a football ground, then a headbutt is significantly worse
dubai_phil Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/picturegalleries/8327925/AC-Milan-v-Tottenham-Gennaro-Gattusos-night-of-shame-in-pictures.html To be honest when you look at those pics he doesn't just need a ban he needs serious Psychiatric help Not to mention a severe investigation of the Match Referee and his bank accounts
JackFrost Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 I'm not talking FIFA sanctions, I am talking Criminal / Police action - Surely if someone gets a life time ban from throwing something in a football ground, then a headbutt is significantly worse The police would merely "pass it on to the relevant authorities" ie. UEFA and he'll end up with a 3 game ban and a £500 quid fine. Where as if it was done at a sunday league match or anyone by the crowd then the same offence would get a far worse punishment. Far too much politics involved for Gattuso to be punished like anyone else
Toadhall Saint Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 Bit hard to say but, a minimum would be a ban from all sporting grounds (think thats how it works - could be lifetime could be for a set number of years. Minimum is usually 12 months). If the headbutt could be proved as with intent and caused bodily injury then it would be GBH with intent - that would be 4-5 years (based on an existing criminal record). If the charge was less then the scale of the punishment would reduce similary.
suewhistle Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 I watched some of the match on an internet feed. Wished I'd gone down a local bar now to wind up any Milan supporters, Gattuso seriously lost it like a primary school kid with a tantrum!
Saint-scooby Posted 16 February, 2011 Posted 16 February, 2011 Talking Scottish too !! Pretty sure it should of been an instant red the lino had a clear view and the ref was about 20 feet away. What did Prutton get, hang on Harry, was there too
