Papa Waigo N'Diaye

Here here. All those that banged on about offside were short sighted to what he actually brought to the squad & his goal scoring assists & picking out Lambert was superb as well as his ability to track back & turn of pace to change defence into counter attacks. Numerous JPT matches, Walsall home when the team were stale until his sub, numerous other chances but sadly fickle fans & detractors only saw what they wanted to see. We miss his input a lot IMHO.

Totally agree with you here Gordon, he was a much better player than a lot of our fans give him credit for, and was a better player for us than Puncheon has been. Pardew shouldn't have had a problem with him, as without Papa and his goals bringing the success of the JPT to him, Pardew would have been sacked as soon as we missed out on the play offs. As for him being offiside, the linesmen were too slow and just put their flags up as soon as they looked up and saw he was behind the oppo's defence. I remember one instance of him being flagged only about five yards over the half way line, as he raced onto a through ball, when he had started his run in our half and was on the half way line as the ball was played through. I'm not saying he was never offside, just that on a fair few occasions the lino got it wrong. He also came on and changed a few games turning draws into wins, again something that is overlooked by some of our fans.

I'd have him back at Saints tomorrow if I could, as I believe he has attributes which the squad are lacking and that he can play at a higher level.

I read on a site somewhere that his "estimated salary" is about 550/600K euros a year. Could be crap of course but that's nearly 10K a week over a season and I really doubt that he was worth that to us.

He wouldn't get anything like that at Fiorentina, let alone Grosetto, so very probably crap..

Actually just found a figure of 450k mentioned, much of which is being paid by Fiorentina, apparently... Not sure Italian footie websites are any more accurate than ours.:-)

I think it was a Senagalese site that I saw because it converted the figure into Central African Francs (some sort of virtual currency that is used for reference in former Francocolonies if I remember correctly) .

Probably not. More likely CFA "seefa", which is the currency issued by the central banks of West Africa, in my own experience as widespread as from Benin to Mauritania. It's a bit like the euro in that part of the world. I've got a bunch of them in my wallet right now.

Last time I was in Senegal they were 680 to the dollar, or it might have been to the euro, I'm easily confused.

I met him a couple of times and footballing aside,he was not the most pleasant person,an enormous ego, thought Saints was way below him and was just biding his time before going to the prem. Did not want to go back to Italy or to France as he thought football was finished in both countries. Can't see that he would be an easy fit in the dressing room and very high maintainance , can't imagine he and Pardew were a match made in heaven.

Sounds like they were quite similar actually.

I don't think it was pathetic, the NC speculation wasn't needed, it didn't add anything to the piece.

When can we expect to see other, non controversial, player profile drafts.

Well I thought the NC reference partially explained why Pardew did not exercise our right to buy him.

As you can see I have also edited it as it was only hearsay.
