Don't understand why hitting a child is more OK than hitting an adult or why it should be considered a good way of teaching anyone how to behave. I'm very glad it's illegal here as hitting children at all is pretty barbaric. Also, when I was a teacher in England I saw that it was pretty much only the children who were hit at home that saw it as acceptable to hit other children. Any comments about "just a light smack" are pretty daft as well, the child understands it's been hit and that was the way they understand a situation can be dealt with.

I tend to agree with you. My old man was a superb father and he never ever laid a fnger on me and if he did it would have been a smack as toddler that i can't remember. I've got a mate who's old man was this respectable high up army officer - he beat his wife and my mate. Basically anyone that needs to resort to violence to get their point accross is a pr1ck and a bully but most of all a coward.

And do you know what I really hate, adults that hit animals. I was on my first day of my holiday in mevagissey a few years ago and this lad had shopping bag and he kept hitting the dog round the head with it by swinging it because the dog was pulling. I say he kept doing it, i saw him do it, then doubled checked, then he did it again, then i punched square on the nose. And coward said sorry. But he'd do it again because he's a coward.

It's very interesting that you don't apply that logic when defending your mates from the EDL dune.

I would encourage anyone to read this. Points of note are:

"Muslims living under the protection of a non-Muslim State must obey the laws of that State, so long as such obedience does not conflict with their commitment to Islam and the Ummah." - Basically saying they will abide by their Sharia law over the law of the land they reside in.

"At some stage we may have to engage in a campaign of

civil disobedience1 in Britain." - Wow.

To be honest all this Sharia stuff is pretty low down in importance. I'm far more concerned about the EU and the European Court.

The bit about engaging in civil disobedience in Britain though..

A little bit more from the Koran on how children are treated..

From the hadith of Bukhari, volume 5, #234

"Narrated Aisha: The prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six. We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Harith Kharzraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's messenger came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age." - The prophet Muhammad married a girl of 9 years old, and Muhummad had written the marriage contract when she was 6.

From the hadith of the Sunan of Abu Dawud, volume 2, #2116

"Aisha said, "The Apostle of Allah married me when I was seven years old." (The narrator Sulaiman said: "Or six years."). "He had intercourse with me when I was 9 years old."

I know all these cherry picked bits, but that is all it is. I don't have a problem with Islam in Turkey. I went on a coach trip and bought some crap from outside a mosque because the people were friendly and didn't hassle me for a sale. All the Turks in the shops etc never left you alone, but up in the mountains it's was a really cool day out. That said I do have a problem with Islam in general in the UK and that is that unlike in Turkey it's not a disciplined faith and the reason it's not a disciplined faith is because the Muslim community choose not to steward their own people. Islam, more than mot other faiths has a devout following thus it should theoretically be an easy faith to manage. I firmly believe that the muslim clerics, elders and community leaders in this country are not doing enough to manage their extreme elements. That said some are doing their best, but unlike with the other faiths christian, sikh, hindu, judaism that live in harmony with a solid ruling elite that believe in british values - democracy, freedooms etc, anti western (anti British) feeling isn't roundly condemned by those in charge in Muslim communities. Maybe they are scared to do so in some cases, but again this all comes back to the actions of those at the top. .

Agreed. The only way any of it can be solved is if Muslims that are high up in society or at the tops of organisations come out and condemn the extremism that is attached to their religion.

Saw footage of the teacher bloke smacking the kids on the advert for it. It's horrible. Dread to think what they will be like when they grow up if this is considered the norm.

Actually I think it will be like the abusive Catholic priests in Ireland - has practically destroyed the church there.

"Us" and "Them", pathetic.

Sweeping generalisations...

Oh no... Am I racist now? Diddums.

oh dear you need to get a life

Really? SH*T. Thankyou for enlightening me.

LOL at the people believing everything they see on C4 or read in the mail.

I remember that programme very well because it provoked an investigation by West Midlands police into what they were preaching and teaching in the mosques.

The investigation ended up concluding

"West Midlands Police complained to Ofcom that the programme had been subject to such an intensity of editing that those who had been featured in the programme had been misrepresented (creating an unfair, unjust and inaccurate perception of both some speakers and sections of the Muslim community within the West Midlands); the footage had been edited in a way that resulted in material being broadcast in a form so altered from the form originally delivered that it was “sufficient to undermine community cohesion”; and the programme was “likely to undermine feelings of public reassurance and safety of those communities in the West Midlands for which the Chief Constable has a responsibility"

so C4 edited together the together the part where the guy stood in front of 500 brainwashed raji's and said something along the lines of "One day, we must come together and take back the promises land of Allah's that Hajid (whatever the word was, it meant non-believer and is there insult word for the British) have taken from us."

You continue to try and convince yourself that this country isn't f*****g itself in the Harris by letting these lunatics free roam on our shores. Try to think what sort of a life your great, great grandchildren are going to have. Or not, as the case will most probably be.

I'm not talking about knocking the **** out of them, just a light smack to let them know they've done something wrong on the very rare occasion when the situation warrants it.

Typical of do-gooders to make out I am some sort of bullying cowardly monster because I have smacked my kids on the odd occasion.

I have good kids that know the difference between right and wrong, and the odd smack has done them no harm.

Yeah, but that's impossible isn't it, science has proven that beyond doubt.

Your post alludes to a story where Muhammed marries a young girl. I was merely bringing to your attention that the Christian God has form when it comes to asking extremely inappropriate things of young girls. Those in glass houses...

My parents never smacked me but, I tell you, I was so scared of what it WOULD be like if my father walloped me that I was actually well behaved!

Indeed. The threat of being smacked is as powerful as being smacked. But your father was only able to offer threat rather than the real thing because there was a tangible expectation that one can turn into the other (legally).

Threat has no impact when the recipient knows that there is no chance of it ever becoming reality (legally)

If you get my drift...

the bible looks lightly on rape in many places, here's the punishment given in the bible:

(Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB)

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

As a white paper, compiled by their elite, they have tried their best to present this as intelligent, considered and articulate... but it reads differently, full of resistance (jihad?), contempt, disregard and a total lack of respect of our society and our values.

Is that the best they can do? That has little credibility in my opinion, and reads as hateful as any tabliod article might, though for once the tabloids appear to be intellectually superior.

That paper pretty much confirms the western fears behind of all this Muslim and Islam phenomena, they have put it in writing for all of us to see. The contempt is clear to see, it is not just our right wing elements going on about it, they have put it in WRITING for us to read...

LOL @ the imams, pilars of their communities (and beaters of children) earning less than £20k p.a

In fact, this could easily be a **** take by one of our own!!!

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/02/15/60minutes/main20032070.shtml?tag=exclsv

The media's self-delusion about the tenets of the Religion of Peace comes back to haunt yet another naive Westerner.

Muslims asserting their 'right' to rape non-believers.

A real shame, but very niave. I am always surprised when I hear of white western women going to these barbaric states and think they will be anything other than a target.

I once was at Waterloo with a girlfriend, blonde, blue eyes, denim skirt and a black top, looking superb and about 20y.o. A bunch of bearded men dressed in bedsheets came over and started publically heckling her, pointing and cursing in their language at the top of their lungs in the middle of the station. Totally unprovoked and utterly disgusting (about 3-4 years ago). She was devastated as you can imagine. If she was alone and unguarded.... mind you, they would probably be out looking

I have never recovered from that experience.

Putting my cards on the table as I like to do:

If I had the option to go to sleep tonight, and wake up tomorrow and never ever see or hear of anything remotely islam or muslim... nighty night

thats is all

Nice. bet you're a right one at dinner parties.

Dinner parties?! Careful now Pancake, you sound like a grave dodger!

In the context of my post, and the context of the story the sentence is from, I thought it was amusing and rude. If I were straight laced and prosed it in standard speak (though I dont know what they call their bedsheets!) maybe I would have commanded greater credibility from people like yourself. But that would be boring, dull, dull like dull people on this site, who post as if they are on some middle class adventure, such as baking a loaf of bread for the village ****ing fayre.

I knew as soon as I typed that, people like yourself would pick it out, effectively dismissing the rest of the post, looking like a smart arse cyber comic, but remaining firmly on the fence... Enjoy your stanceless stance - I BET YOU'RE A RIGHT ONE AT DINNER PARTIES!!!

I bet people avoid talking to characters like you, due to your boring stanceless soul - 'would rather pick **** apart from somebody elses opinion because Im too wet to form my own' type of soul.

Still, I dont know, Im still challenging and questioning society everyday, loving and hating everday, living everyday. No time for 'dinner parties'!!! (other than this quiet day at work that is!)

Im still living the good life. I go out most nights and weekends, and still take advantage of the 'eating is cheating' rule whilst on footy days out.

I reckon I can do another 5-10 years before im passing some ****ty bottle of wine picked up from the corner shop to the host of some boring bowl of pasta and a night of strictly come dancing... **** me, the thought of that is seriously depressing!

This forum is depressing, its often well informed which i find very depressing. Steve Grant DEPRESSES and REPRESSES me.

See, me and the muzzies have some common ground after all!

Now, back to finishing my mushroom risotto, must be quick before John and Cathy arrive at 6pm. Yay!

He seems to have made a career out of it. He is no different to Hassan Butt of al muhajiroun. They know what they say offends. But they carry on happily, waiting for neo-con loons like Hannity to fall into the trap. Butt recently admitted, in his words, he was a habitual liar. He's have to be. Both have made claims about their involvement in terrorism that would have got them locked up ages ago. But they are both attention-seeking fantasists. Koranic dunes.

Is Hannity really falling into a trap or is he actually imparting what he feels publicly? Either way, I'm kinda glad he has the freedom to speak his mind like that, as opposed to the lily-livered, watered down dialogue that you'd get over here.

She is IMHO only in the position she is within the Tory party because she is firstly a woman & secondly Asian...............And that is no way either sexist or racist.
