Bomb gone off in Eastleigh...?

Just after 23:00, heard a full on "Boooom". Not everyday you hear that around Eastleigh so flicked on Facebook and it was heard from Airport direction to as far as Bishopstoke. The police spotter plane is flying over mine at the minute, and my missus cousin has informed us that there are police swarming Chadwick Road & Owen Road just off Passfield Avenue.

Anyone else seen or heard anything?

A police spokesman has said they are looking for a Mr T Jones in connection with the blast. Mr Jones was in the area for a business trip due to Valentines day.

Although it is too early to confirm anything at this time, Police have not ruled out the possibilty that it was a sex bomb.

Heard a "Thud" about, hmm, 30 mins ago maybe, then helicopters or something, got quote noisy.

Seriously doubt it was anything major, I live pretty much smack centre. I was about 1km away from the Ealing bomb when that went off, and that was about 10 times louder than what I heard tonight

Fair enough, you're forgiven if the worst has happened.

The Ealing bomb shook my house in Chiswick. THAT was a bomb.

Just find it remarkable that a bomb that didnt shatter windows more than 100 meters away, that could only be heard not felt when I was stood in the street not more than half a mile away was able to shake your house 3 or 4 miles away

Just find it remarkable that a bomb that didnt shatter windows more than 50 meters away, that could only be heard not felt when I was stood in the street not more than half a mile away was able to shake your house.

You evidently know my address, so why don't you look at a map? It'll probably tell you why.

Chiswick is closer to ealing than ealing in to ealing then, apparently

You might want consider that bombs, by their nature, tend to do these things. Unfortunately I've seen the consequences of a few of them in Pakistan. Their effects seem pretty random - people have been stood close to them and walked away; others standing next to them have been cut in half. Blast waves radiate out and tend to follow the line of least resistance, like a tidal wave.

I heard a bomb go off once.

It was in a Waste Bin in Bangkok

It didn't shake my house so it seems I am not qualified as an uber bomb discusser

HTH

Meanwhile, any explanation today?

I felt it in the midlands. Blast waves radiate out and tend to follow the line of least resistance, like a tidal wave.

OK. Now we've finished playing the "My house had a greater exposure to the blast shock wave than yours" game, does anybody know what that noise was last night in Eastleigh?

I find it a little strange that there was a significant explosion last night that apparently led to helicopters taking to the skies but there is no mention of it in the mainstream local media.

The only reference I can find is this.

Many MANY years ago I was at home at my parents. I heard an "explosion" that rattled the windows of the house. Called it in, Police came round asked some questions and around half the village had heard it. They took the details and then let us know a couple of days later that it was a Jet from Boscombe Down that had inadvertently broken the Sound barrier in a manouvere. Being a wave, they explained it could have reflected off some hills and buildings and so not everyone would have noticed it.

May have been a similar case over there maybe one of those Harriers guys decided to see if the old model actually could do it!

I threw an aerosol in a bonfire as a youngster and that got the neighbours out of their houses. I also threw a fire work at a teacher which made him jump. He was up a ladder at the time too.

Seems a bit strange that everyone is keeping hush on this. Nothing in the echo but then I guess it was too late for them to be out actually doing their job and was nothing available to copy and paste

Right on cue http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8853360.Mystery_blast_shakes_Eastleigh/

Odd that the police dont know what it was yet there were helicopters and spotter planes overhead.

They're more effective if you hold hold them in your hands or throw them like a German hand grenade.
