Mattio Posted 14 February, 2011 Share Posted 14 February, 2011 It's so annoying how much money is being wasted, the coast guard boat is there so (I assume) it can't be called to other emergencies at sea. police costs, money the bridge is losing (not that I care about that), the lost trade etc, all because one person wants people to take notice of them... Whitey Grandad Posted 14 February, 2011 Share Posted 14 February, 2011 They normally jump over land, not water. The chef in our local lives next to the bridge and he has seen loads of them.
Saint-scooby Posted 14 February, 2011 Author Share Posted 14 February, 2011 Write a letterMany of us need a sounding board to help work out solutions to our problems. We need to talk to someone to clarify what these may be. Letting the feelings out to another human being might be what is required. But not everyone can do this by telephone. Writing a letter is an alternative for people who prefer to communicate in this way. You will have the same understanding and care given to people who phone or email us. If you need to write about how you are feeling, write to Samaritans at: Chris P.O. Box 90 90 Stirling FK8 2SA If you are in Ireland you can write to your local branch. Every letter goes to a volunteer, who will respond to you directly. Everything you write is treated in confidence. All it costs you is the price of a stamp. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I guess he is waiting for reply ?? Hatch Posted 14 February, 2011 Share Posted 14 February, 2011 The Police should employ a prossie ( a fit one) for just a couple of hundred quid a week, so when they get anyone threatening to jump, she can just go down and offer to suck them off. I bet 90% of the blokes would take her up on her offer.

Turkish Posted 14 February, 2011 Share Posted 14 February, 2011 Send Turkish up there to sort it out. it's all for attention. If someone was serious about killing themselves they wouldn't be on top of a bridge for 10 hours whilst people talk them out of it. Whoever it is wil come down. If you are going to do it then you'd just get on with it or do it privately, overdose or something rather than making a big song and dance about it. Oh, just seen, he's come down. What a surprise. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8851088.Bridge_reopens_after_man_talked_off_ledge/
Deppo Posted 14 February, 2011 Share Posted 14 February, 2011 They should have watchtowers at each end of the bridge and if anyone attempts to walk on it or stops their car they should be shot on the spot, no questions asked. That way, traffic is kept moving and no one gets annoyed and those shot also get what they wanted. The person should then have their photo taken and it posted on a special new website called "Itchen Dead". This will inform families and friends of who has been killed/killed themselves. If the person has enough cash on them they should be immediately bureied, with no consultation with the family, in a plot of wasteland somewhere. If they don't have enough money on them they should be chopped into tiny pieces. One bit, maybe something recognisable like an ear, nose or penis, should be sent to the next of kin and the rest sent to a local RSPCA dogs home. All of these thoughtful considerations that I have suggested should NOT, though, interfere with the most important thing and that is to keep traffic moving. Sounds reasonable - but perhaps "Itchen Scratched" rather than "Itchen Dead"

tpbury Posted 14 February, 2011 Share Posted 14 February, 2011 No doubt I'll kill this thread too. This is why I, and many others, have a e-crush on you Deppo - it's witty, it's ironic, it's plausible! And all in all, why not? I actuallly think it's a good idea, but possibly carve the face off and make into a plaster-o-paris mold?
