Gemmel Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/9392879.stm The average Premier League fan travels 1,960 miles a season to follow their club, a study has shown. West Brom fans travel the furthest at 3,290 miles. (The Sun) I probably only do 6 or 7 away matches a season, but reckon i would beat 1,
stevegrant Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 Home games are now a 150-mile round trip for me, so that's nearly 3500 miles already
buctootim Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 Weird. I would have thought fans from clubs in the Midlands would travel the least.
Kenilworthy Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 Home games are a 260 miles round trip, so that's over 5,000 miles. With away games its probably over 8,000. The Championship used to be effectively a Midlands league with lost of short away trips. Now its only Walsall that's relatively local
Nexstar Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 Weird. I would have thought fans from clubs in the Midlands would travel the least. This. How can west brom have the most, surely it would be newcastle/sunderland?
Appy Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 Based on last season, in all comps i did 23 away games. Every home game in all comps. I live in Andover. So a fair whack!
dickyhale Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 (edited) This year have done three aways, I live Totton so checked via AA route (can only do Saturdays away games now due to work commitments) Dag & Redbridge 118.5 miles Tramere Rovers 242.9 miles Peterbrough 115.5 miles so 516.9 miles x2 thats 1033.8 miles just this year..... Last season we drove to every Saints away game in all comps but due to work can only do Saturdays now.... Had to stop as customer come in shop (plus see all this mileage scared me) Edited 10 February, 2011 by dickyhale
dronskisaint Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 A home game for me is just under 500 miles round trip so with about half a dozen away matches as well I guess, when I get the chances I'd average around 7k per annum.
Nexstar Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 So far this season google maps reckons 3,
trousers Posted 10 February, 2011 Share Posted 10 February, 2011 This. How can west brom have the most, surely it would be newcastle/sunderland? Maybe they go to more away games because they don't have to travel so far each time, but totted up they end up travelling more miles overall than, say, an average Newcastle fan who probably goes to less games. Or, there again, maybe not.

Saint in Paradise Posted 11 February, 2011 Share Posted 11 February, 2011 Home games are now a 150-mile round trip for me, so that's nearly 3500 miles already Is that all ? I have done over 21,000 miles to watch Saints this season. Mind you it was only the game against Rochdale but I did travel from NZ and back
