Saint_clark Posted 9 February, 2011 Posted 9 February, 2011 I still think it should be "The Markus Liebherr St Marys Stadium", nevermind the training ground.
Colinjb Posted 9 February, 2011 Posted 9 February, 2011 I still think it should be "The Markus Liebherr St Marys Stadium", nevermind the training ground. Maybe when we move to the 50,000 capacity megadome Nicola Cortese hinted at. Otherwise, The Meccano St Mary's Stadium will do fine.
eelpie Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 I'm seeing mostly sofas. That's for the Sports Science lectures.
Gemmel Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 Top suggestion I believe this was bought up at one of Cortese Season ticket dinners and the idea was apparently well received. (I wasn't there but it was posted on the forum.)
Jones91 Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 Meanwhile, Pompey are training in Eastleigh lol
Crab Lungs Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 Meanwhile, Pompey are training in Eastleigh lol LOL, timely reminder to have yet another chuckle at their expense
sammysaint Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 shows the ML family are keeping there promises as well by funding it, i think name the training ground after him and have a big plaque with his name on it at the front of the indoor complex.
Matthew Le God Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 This is interesting... Councillor Alison Hoare, who represents Marchwood, said “When they reach the Premier League, reserve matches will be played at St Mary’s.”
JustMike Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 This is interesting... Councillor Alison Hoare, who represents Marchwood, said “When they reach the Premier League, reserve matches will be played at St Mary’s.” is that because they anticipaite bigger crowds?
The9 Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 Meanwhile, Pompey are training in Eastleigh lol Hey, don't knock it, they're good facilities. Well, they were in 1991 for a Southampton University fresher not used to flat pitches, there was sod all else there apart from a sand-based Astropitch and the Wellington Bar. Though why they choose to train on the hockey/cricket pitch I have no idea.
BLINK Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 the exterior looks nice, interior looks quite dull, some good cinema 4D work tho.
SO16_Saint Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 This is interesting... Councillor Alison Hoare, who represents Marchwood, said “When they reach the Premier League, reserve matches will be played at St Mary’s.” that's not interesting. The interesting bit is that the councillors name is Hoare

Badger Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 No doubt the building contains the best equipt and most lavish treatment room in the history of football. Which is a shame because (some of) our strikers will probably not want to leave that comfort zone.
John Boy Saint Posted 10 February, 2011 Posted 10 February, 2011 If this means that we can attract the best young talent within the 1 and 2 hour travel limits, producing players like Adam and Alex to populate the teams of the future instead of paying Mickey Mouse money then this is money very well spent.

Saints are also helped by having a satellite academy in Bath which helps get around travel restrictions. Which is how Saints picked up Welsh and South Western English players like Gareth Bale and a number of others.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 February, 2011 Posted 14 February, 2011 (edited) This is why Saints are doing it now, so that Staplewood is ready by 2012/13... "The Premier League want to grade all academies and insists the EPPP will boost the standard of elite of homegrown players but admit no clubs would currently meet the requirements to satisfy a Category One academy. The vision is to introduce the proposals by the start of the 2012/13 season giving clubs 18 months to build their infrastructure and employ more qualified coaches." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1356951/Football-League-fury-Premier-Leagues-academy-plans.html#ixzz1DycCjHkn Edited 14 February, 2011 by Matthew Le God
Secret Site Agent Posted 15 February, 2011 Posted 15 February, 2011 After what happened to Gray & Keys, I'm amazed you had the gall to write this sort of sexist nonsense. Mods what's going on? WEll, to explain myself it is simple, No money upfront, done on a fee free basis. A seat next to Atkins. Lucy and I feeling love for each other. A seat on the bus of success. Mrs Fonte and I playing football together, as that is the extent of my skills, discussing how to pronounce her husbancds name whilst eating a plate of my famous Caldeirada The truth to the many rumours regarding the parting of Pardew. The opportunity to lose weight on them Bicycles. And that's it. You have a very dirty mind, sir. Now, who are these two new signings you refer too?

Smirking_Saint Posted 15 June, 2011 Posted 15 June, 2011 Anyone been up Staplewood lately ?? Just have a hunch that buidling has started, we had a cable damage today, usually caused on construction sites (bloody imcompetant digger drivers ) I'll find out whats going on tomorrow.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 June, 2011 Posted 15 June, 2011 Anyone been up Staplewood lately ?? Just have a hunch that buidling has started. Planning permission was granted in February 2011 for the temporary training buildings Saints will use during the construction phase. http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/images/planningimages/169247_1.pdf On the 5th May 2011 you can see that the temporary buildings are now in place... You would think they would be doing this because building work was taking place as soon as the Walsall game was over.

If I remember I'll do a reccy tomorrow and have a little look.
