BadgerBadger Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Never been in that neck off the woods and so I'm looking to take the family up there in May for a week. Where's good, looking for fine ales, near a beach, good for dog walks. Anybody know the area and got some recommendations
dune Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Wells Next The Sea (North Norfolk coast) is a really nice seaside fishing village. Really nice part of the county. Friends of mine have a cottage in a village called Snoring and have stayed there a few years back. Sandringham, Walsingham (religious shrine village), and Fakenham (nice market town) all in the area. More rural than Cromer, Yarmouth etc.
bridge too far Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Ooooh let me know if you find anything! We're looking to do the same, but also as a recce because next year I think we might do the Norfolk Broads. Have a look at websites for Country Cottages etc. That's what we've been doing, although we haven't found anything yet. I think, but don't know why, that Suffok is nicer than Norfolk. I did a lot of work in King's Lynn and wasn't that impressed with that part of Norfolk.
Deppo Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Stayed in a great place called "The Barn" about a mile away from Sheringham. Was lovely. Cost a bit, but then there were 10 of us. I could find you a link if you wish. Any of that North Norfolk coastline is nice.

dune Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Visit Walsingham - it's the English version of Lourdes and you can fill fill your little bottle up with magic water - we saw some people stocking up milk containers full. There's a catholic end and a protestant end of the village and the walk between the two churches is known as the Walsingham mile where they all walk bear foot on their pilgramage. Just make sure you're not there when the Tamils are in town though... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1440691.stm
