Matthew Le God Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 Don't worry Kenny. Benjii is just continuing today's trend of reminiscing about old Saints players.
Miltonaggro Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 F*ck me! If anyone needs reminding as to why we are in the third division the names being put up on here over the last 24 hours provide a stark jarring reminder. Let's sign 250 players for £700K in the hope that 11 might not be too sh*t...
JackFrost Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 Seriously, wtf? Marcelo Tejera, an Argentine who made his international debut in 1991. His transfer was investigated by the authorities I believe I think he apparently signed for us but never turned up?
Colinjb Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 Indeed, WTF. Was it him who played in the league cup defeat at Notts County, or was that Sarmiento?

Papa Shango Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 I was about to say 'who's going to start the Marcelo Sarmiento thread' Underrated player. Looked really comfortable on the ball the few times he played. Rarely gave the ball away. Surprised he wasn't given more of a chance.

K,Billy's supersound Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 old arry did alright from the tajera signing tho, the bloke was ****e and never gonna play any role for us he couldnt even hack the training and was well out of his depth. certainly was not bought with any intentions of playing football for us. niceandfriendly Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 His partnership with Viafara in the middle of the park (whenever Clueless George decided to play them together) was great. They performed very well, and Pele's best position is clearly centre mid. Can't remember how he played as a centre back to be honest as won't have played there for us many times, but he certainly was not one of our worst ever. Stu Man Do Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 I'm amazed its taken near enough 4 years since the play off season to establish he is the reason we didn't go up! And they say this forum is intellectually challenged! Played far fewer games as a CB than as a CM so your point is? As others have said he was an ok midfielder just not 1m pounds worth. Who is not pleased to be able to say they saw "pele" score for Southampton though!? I added that to me seeing Best and Charlton do the same ;-)
Thedelldays Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 He was always a defensive midfielder, not a centre back. He was alright when played in his normal position. wansnt he brought in as a CB though..and we were told as such..and then realised he was shyt for us there

Saint-scooby Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 Saw him play at SMS when we had a reserve league, think he started a few times too ? The9 Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 haha this made me chuckle. Disagree with your Jacobbson comment though. You could put a brick on the pitch and it would do more good than that bloke! Worst player I've ever seen in a saints shirt by a distance. Jakobsson (for that is how he spells it) was not even the worst Saints player on the pitch for most of his Saints matches in the Prem relegation season... he was a damn sight better than Nilsson for a start, and then we signed Davenport and Bernard... I added that to me seeing Best and Charlton do the same ;-) Billy Davies was why we didn't go up that season, thanks to his kicking rota on Kenwyne and Bale... as well as Pele's stupid pull back on the Derby player's shirt in the playoff first leg. The9 Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 He was better than Bennett, who just looked awkward and useless! I even drew cartoons about how bad Alan Bennett (alongside Chris Makin) was on his debut, and for the first month or two before some people on here thought he suddenly became good, when actually he just got slightly less crap with a bit of experience. Alain Perrin Posted 9 February, 2011 Share Posted 9 February, 2011 I am sure you are all experts.... But you sound like c•cks. If I had a pound for every player this forum had passed judgement on as 'the worst player ever to wear a Saints shirt', I'd be a rich man. Smith wasn't a great player but we weren't a great team - and we were skintight, stoney broke. He came, he tried. Move on.
