Saint-scooby Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Ok looking to buy some cordless tools drill, jigsaw etc, what is the best batterys out there ? I have been looking at the li ion "lithium-ion battery" or the Ni mh "Nickel-metal hydride battery" Wont be used all the time but like half decent gear that will last, the batteries are inter changeable so could buy one and swap it about. This is quite a good price for starters I think !! http://www.screwfix.com/prods/74113/Power-Tools/Cordless-Drills/DeWalt-18V-Combi-Drill?source=aw&cm_mmc=AffiliateWindow-_-DeepLink-_-Na-_-Na#BVRRWidgetID Thanks in advance
100%Red&White Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 If they "wont be used all the time" you'll be better off with Li-Ion (which most up-to-date power tools now use) as they hold a charge, so you'll just be able to pick it up and use it even after weeks of non-usage. The power doesn't just gradually fade like NiMh, once it's used its charge it just stops. NiMh or NiCds will discharge fairly quickly when not in use. Dog Posted 8 February, 2011 Share Posted 8 February, 2011 Don't use anything under 3.0Ah, it will go soft in your hand. Plus De-Walt are rubbish.
