Jeff Le Taxi Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 Anyone know of a way to find adopted children? a friend of mine is about to pay the best part of £700 to NORCAP ? to locate her adopted daughter who was adopted through no fault of her own eighteen years ago, surely there must be a cheaper way? Dimond Geezer Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 I thought only the adopted child could find the birth parents, not t'other way around.
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 7 February, 2011 Author Share Posted 7 February, 2011 Not sure, the girl in question has now turned 18 so not sure that counts any more, NORCAP is a registered charity so it cant be illegal i wouldnt have thought, just seemed like a lot of money! Deppo Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 Depends on whats more important, the money or the child.

I assume NORCAP will only have access to public domain information so, with some research, anyone should be able to carry out the same level of investigation. I guess the main advantage of going with NORCAP is that it will be quicker than the DIY approach as they know all the ropes upfront.

hypochondriac Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 Not very fair of a mother to contact their child who they haven't seen for 18 years. Could mess up the child.
wokingsaints Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 I thought only the adopted child could find the birth parents, not t'other way around. the law has changed mate, the birth parents can now look for a child they gave up for adoption, but it has to go through a charity/agency
