S-Clarke Posted 6 February, 2011 Share Posted 6 February, 2011 Bit of a joke sacking, again. What do WBA expect this year.....? Bit like Newcastle sacking Hughton. WBA may be in slight free-fall at the mo, but they still haven't been in the bottom 3 all year.

Window Cleaner Posted 6 February, 2011 Share Posted 6 February, 2011 Ridiculous decision. West Brom have no money and no talent so what's a bloke supposed to do; Bet they're amongst the smallest spenders in the EPL. If you want to win games then you have to spend money and pay excessive salaries.

If you want to win games then you have to spend money and pay excessive salaries. Blackpool are above them and have spent a lot lot less. It's not impossible to do well without spending an absolute fortune. They have plenty of good players too. I probably wouldn't have sacked him, but I can understand why they did. Clearly something is not right there at the moment, and they showed at the start of the season they have the talent in the squad to be much higher up the league. They've been in free fall recently and a change could be just what they need. A lot of WBA fans aren't upset he's gone.
Colinjb Posted 6 February, 2011 Share Posted 6 February, 2011 How so? Sometimes changing managers has a positive effect. I reckon they'll stay up. West Ham are better at their peak. Wolves are playing good football. Birmingham are resilient. Wigan can and have picked up results against so called better teams. Blackpool will keep scoring goals. Aston Villa are starting to put some form together. Fulham are also putting results together now some key players are back from injury. West Brom had their moment of adrenaline at the start of the season and they have got rid of the man who made it possible. They are in freefall and will now go down, I would 100% put them as one of the bottom three now.
S-Clarke Posted 6 February, 2011 Share Posted 6 February, 2011 Rumour has it Di Matteo lost the dressing room. No way back when that happens. Ah well - shame. I like him as a manager, he'll get back in job very soon. Rumours are floating around that Gus at Brighton is a target....would be great for us. SuperMikey Posted 6 February, 2011 Share Posted 6 February, 2011 I think RDM did a good job there, but they are the perennial yo-yo club. It'll take some serious investment from the owners or a f*cking good manager to establish them as a Premiership club for more than a season at a time. Thedelldays Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 why are people so shocked at this...they have lost 12 out of their last 15 or something like that...basically, the worst form in the league by a long shot..and look set to go down.........so it has not worked out for di matteo..? he is a decent manager and will no doubt learn from this...harsh but the the owners at WBA have to try and do something... What I find strange is why give him the whole transfer window, than sack him as soon as its shut? If they wanted a new guy in surely it would have been better to get them in before January? ChrisPY Posted 7 February, 2011 Share Posted 7 February, 2011 Because they can p*ss RDM off by not spending money as keeping him happy doesn't matter. The new manager doesn't have the opportunity to be p*ssed off as he can't ask to spend money when the window's closed.
