for_heaven's_Saint Posted 7 February, 2011 Posted 7 February, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/9390098.stm That's that sorted then. 'Reports of a possible £50m takeover of Southampton are not based in fact, sources close to the football club have told BBC Radio Solent.'
Saint_clark Posted 7 February, 2011 Posted 7 February, 2011 BBC South just said that Southampton FC havn't commented about the possible takeover. F*ck me, that makes the news? They might as well report that we haven't commented on our stance on North Korea.
Saint_clark Posted 7 February, 2011 Posted 7 February, 2011 "Southampton are refusing to make an official comment on the speculation." Because we shouldn't f*cking have to. Cortese has made it perfectly clear.
Red and White Army Posted 7 February, 2011 Posted 7 February, 2011 Based on what exactly? The club is still spending money on players, Cortese has said they are still fully behind the project and the club has since Markus' death submitted plans for a training ground upgrade that is three times the cost of the original plans. We have no idea who the new owner is, yet alone whether they are committed or not.
Dig Dig Posted 7 February, 2011 Posted 7 February, 2011 (edited) Another bi-monthly up for sale thread! Jesus, pretty much every club in the country have been linked to some kind of arab consortium. That article is a joke with no reference to any source what so ever. However, the people who want to believe it will though when in fact it's better served removing the **** from your arse. I'd recommend printing if off first though Edited 7 February, 2011 by Dig Dig
Matthew Le God Posted 7 February, 2011 Posted 7 February, 2011 (edited) We have no idea who the new owner is, yet alone whether they are committed or not. Nicola Cortese has publicly said the family are 100% committed and they haven't rubbished his statement in the two months since he made it when they quite easily could. Fleet Street and it seems a number of Saints fans, ignore this. Edited 7 February, 2011 by Matthew Le God

The Daily Mail does seem to have an agenda against SFC and/or Don Cortese lately. Perhaps it all stems from the photography ban? A load of old arse either way . . .
Foxstone Posted 8 February, 2011 Posted 8 February, 2011 lolol. The Daily Mail does seem to have an agenda against SFC and/or Don Cortese lately. Perhaps it all stems from the photography ban? A load of old arse either way . . . Either that or we made them look like a load of dipsy doodles when the press were trying to sell AOC on our behalf to the likes of the Arse - And we told all comers to stump up or feck off !

Viking Warrior Posted 8 February, 2011 Posted 8 February, 2011 Is it not possible that not only are the dark forces at work here but other league one sides/ or premier sides wanting our players are also spouting off misinformation to the mail etc in an effort to derail our promotion push. they cannot beat us on the field but the next best thing is to try to destabalise through bad press coverage?
CanadaSaint Posted 8 February, 2011 Posted 8 February, 2011 You would hope that the people at the Mail would look at the Telegraph article and feel embarrassed at what they printed, but the Mail has proven again and again that it's beyond embarrassment. I agree with .comsaint that they do seem to have an anti-Cortese agenda - fuelled, presumably, by their "contacts", but surely even they should now start wondering about those contacts.
buctootim Posted 8 February, 2011 Posted 8 February, 2011 Most of those ****e Mail articles from the past few months have been written by Sami Mokel, who used to be at the Daily Star. Just spent a 3 or 4 minutes looking at previous articles of his. Many, perhaps most of his articles appear to be simply made up.

At any point does it break laws to repeatedly put lies out in the media? Must be something out there to control all the cr@p
Wes Tender Posted 9 February, 2011 Posted 9 February, 2011 Most of those ****e Mail articles from the past few months have been written by Sami Mokel, who used to be at the Daily Star. Just spent a 3 or 4 minutes looking at previous articles of his. Many, perhaps most of his articles appear to be simply made up. I submitted a comment to that article linked above, pointing out that there was more to it than meets the eye and asking who the tickets were for as MLT patently couldn't be there and in the BBC studios simultaneously. I also commented on the contributions from Slovakia, Italy and New York and suggested that it indicated that we had truly become the Manchester United of the third division. It seems that the Mail only like to publish comments from those whose opinions are in line with their agenda, as they did not publish my comment posted yesterday.
Saint_clark Posted 9 February, 2011 Posted 9 February, 2011 From the Telegraph interview; Cortese remains adamant that his work - and the level of funding and commitment from the Liebher family - has remained intact. He has also dismissed local rumours that the club is up for sale. “Nothing has changed,” says Cortese. “I know what I will do and I will do it. The only thing that has changed is that my friend is no longer around. He wanted me to take the vision forward. He said, ‘there’s no one else that can do it as well as you can and you have to do it’. “I gave my word to the family that I will remain involved and people who know me very well know that, if I give my word, I don’t break my word and that is what I’m going to do.” Closed.
