Southampton set for £50million takeover bid from Middle East (Daily Mail)

Eh? Short and to the point. I didn't have the space to type:

THE DAILY MAIL HAVE AN ARTICLE IN THEIR SH1TTY RAG STATING THAT WE'RE (APPARENTLY) WORTH £50MILLION QUID WHICH - TO BE HONEST - IS A LOAD OF OLD POO, BUT AT LEAST SAID ARTICLE WILL WIND UP ALL THE SAD BASTIDS ON TSW WHO REFUSE TO EVER GO AND WATCH US AGAIN SHOULD WE BE SOLD TO A LOAD OF ARABS.

It's not to the point at all.

There is nothing in the article that suggests we are "for sale". It's a misleading and poor thread title.

I'm sorry to have to say it but it's thread titles like these that lead to nervousness in defenders' minds and hence we drew yesterday.

Cortese had to respond to all this rubbish last time it happened. He shouldn't have to do it again. Unbelievable that the mail have got this reaction from fans again. They know how to stir things up....

There are all of two people who are taking this article seriously, so I wouldn't say the fans have reacted too badly.

I don't care what nationality our owners are, but at least with the Leibherrs in charge what happeed at Portsmouth will NEVER happen to us.

Thisthisthisthisthis x 1000. I dont care where a new owner comes from, but if he changes the plan from what we are doing now, I am not interested. Since everyone wants an instant return on their investment, we know that wont be the case. The Liebherr's are a very rare type of owner.

Your best post ever.

When the people who own the likes of Chelsea and ManCity get bored and move on those clubs will DIE from the debt levels they will quickly incurr once the money stops and from the self-destruction of the fan base with impossible expectations to fulfill.

I like the route NC and the Liebherrs have plotted for us and have continued since MLs sad departure. The thing I dont like is that the "plan" was deralied last season and risks being derailed this season by a couple of suspect inidividuals within the club giving intermittent contribution.

Cortese said if you hear nothing from the club then don't worry,i've heard nothing yet and hope it stays that way. Also the family are worth a shed load of money,we are nothing in the great scheme of things,a little indulgence for Marcus, long may it continue

Your cryptic clues are leading me to Bobby Davro. I've a hunch I may have taken a wrong turning somewhere along the way somehow...

Not bad deduction, can see how your mind has worked. Where have all the Rich, Famous & Powerful World Business & Political Leaders been these past few days?

You were Soooo close. Davro, Davros, easy mistake, but BRILLIANT effort.

Just remember to watch out for a Saints fan in deep discussions with Tiger on TV this week then you'll know everything Scudamore printed in that programme was true!

(Although still waiting to hear back from the European Tour as to whether the Sash shirt counts as a Golf Shirt, Wouldn't want anyone to think I was just a stalker)

The last line of the article reads "he died of a heart attack in August".

How do the Daily Mail know this when the family haven't said how he died?

The only statement I am aware from the family and the Mali web site is; "He died after a short illness"

I would politley suggest that the heart attack cause is a load of bollcoks.

Looking back at some of his pictures (No offence to be taken) he looked a little yellow, which would suggest Liver problems, but i am not aware of any cause ever being given.

So we know absolutely nothing about this or whether or not it's true but it must be Lawrie McMenemy so we can have an excuse to slag off a genuine Saints legend?

It's funny how when people slag off Cortese, some posters get on their high horse and demand proof and yet when it comes to McMenemy they can believe the most tenuous of links (ie he'd been interviewed by the same reporter) and go off on a tangent slagging the man off to high heaven...

And to think they then have the temerity to go on about people with agendas? Jeez...

If I were a billionaire I would travel everywhere by ambulance, just in case.

The hypocrisy was not lost on me that some of the most vociferous posters who were previously shouting "show me the proof", "until the facts come out I'm not prepared to accept that", have jumped in with their size 14's and lynched McMenemy because he gave his tri-annual FA Cup interview a couple of weeks prior.

What a load of bo££ocks. The plan was not derailed last season! The 'plan' was to get out of League 1 this season, if we had done it last season then that would have been a bonus and a tremendous effort was made to get so close given the -10 points we had. If we don't get promotion this season then the plan could be de-railed and only then.

Is one of the mail's journo's not a friend of "He who should not be mentioned", but i will anyway "LOWE". I bet that pompus arse, is still smarting about coming away with F-all from Saints, and i would'nt put it past him to sh-it stir. And maybe he's behind the so called "Dark Forces". ;)

There is always some 'Charlie' and usually a Rupert involved in finance and journalism...

Sorry forgot to mention...

Apparently neither very good at what they do...

Whoever these dark forces are, I wish they would do one. Slightly worried that it is a Saints legend that is leaking information, someone was obviously leaking to Leftback, and now it seems the Daily Mail as well. Whether what's been printed is true or not is another matter though.

Abu Dhabi - they give you branding. Nice HSBC logos on Cutter & Buck shirts, nice Caps (got mine signed by Leftie) Dubai's broke so we get a skanky baseball cap & have to wear our own gear.

Gonna be an all Red Sunday with tiger Lee & Karlsson.

Nice to "sea" the Mail comment about the waterfront. I'm still not sure which is funnier, that article or some thinking Rupert is still the Dark Lord

IMO Cortese is enjoying the challenge and the Liebherr family are very discreetly backing him. Markus was a quiet but determined man, who did not court publicity. I believe the family are simply carrying on that tradition.

We will get to the promised land, but it will be in a sensible and sustainable fashion. Long may our association with Liebherr and Cortese continue !

I can't argue with any of that.

And no mention of Glenda. Keep it up. ;)

I trust it is a none story.i would not like the club to be taken offer. Markus and Nicole are the best things that have happened to the club for a long while

we are being run as a business, we have a good manager facilities and players

if someone else came in all the stability etc would go out of the window.

Lets home its a load of bollicks from the mail
