Broccoli and Stilton.....mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yes, that's an excellent soup.

Two other excellent soups that I make occasionally: Cullen Skink (it's a potato soup featuring smoked haddock), and vegetable Gumbo soup (key ingredients are okra, green pepper, celery, potato, carrots and corn - lots of spice and hot sauce helps, too!).

Either my home made Leek and Potato (Vichyssoise sp) served either hot or cold, or Carrot and Butternut (or Pumpkin soup) ..... luverly jubbly me ol mateys.

Tinned or packet soup just doesn't do it for me. The best I guess would be Campbells Condensed Cream of Tomato with some fresh rosemary, loads of freshly ground pepper and grated parmesan added at the end.

I like Heinz Tomato Soup out of all the canned versions from time to time.

I really enjoy Goulash Soup when in Germany or especially the old days when skiing in Austria

Borscht in either it's Russian or Polish Versions

And home made Stilton & Broccoli

But a REALLY good French Onion Soup? I love it, but friends aren't so keen about 3 or 4 hours later

Great thread Hatch btw.

I had sheeps head soup once in Istanbul, it was a whole head with teeth and eyes in a deep bowl of greasy soup, it tasted vile, all the locals were going mad for it as apparently it tasted amazing. I was drunk, I thought it was chicken, that was until someone lifted Larry's head out.

Dirty 8astards!!

Also known as Leek, Potato and Cheese soup.

and for my fourpence worth, mushroom with a drizzle of truffle oil/butter.

And any soup with meat in it should be out of bounds to the British public imho. I'm as far as you can get from vegetarian, but soup with meat is just plain wrong.

Truffle oil?! F*cking hell. The ponciest I get with a bit of soup is adding some grated cheese and maybe half a boiled egg!

dont knock it til you try it mate. Sainsburys do a little bottle for a few quid, you just need a few drops after you serve it (not in the pan while its heating)
