doddisalegend Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 Have to say I'm dissappointed. To throw away a two goal lead twice really is a bit ****. It seems each time we went two up we took our foot of the gas and invited them to attack us rather than going for the jugular. Guly sounded awful on the radio, and Seabourne sounded worse. Subs from Nigel seemed odd and I knew they'd score when there was five miniutes of injury to time at the end. I feel really down tonight I really thought we'd win the league this season but it looks like the other teams around us just aren't going to slip up this season and we will end up plays off at best. VectisSaint Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 Wonder what the odds were on Pardew's current and previous teams both drawing 4-4 today. Feel a bit deflated but it was a helluva game, and you can see why Peterboro are so full of goals with CMS, Boyd and Mendez, luckily they defend like schoolboys. 2/4 pens should never have been given, 1 each. Yes its disappointing to let a 2-goal lead slip twice but we were lucky not to have gone behind early on. Unlike some I will not be slitting my wrists tonight, bit like the good old days seeing 8 goals in a game, and having no idea who would win. In the overall scheme of things this is actually a good result, not many teams have got anything at London Road this season.

Charlie Wayman Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 This was a woeful performance from which very few players can take any credit at all and that does not exclude or excuse the hapless Nigel Adkins who clearly had no idea at all how to organise the defence or plug the gaps or change the way we wee playing. If Mr Forte is his idea of a good signing then indeed we are in the ****. Only Chaplow and Lambert played with any sort of passion or commitment, the rest presumably thought they were just there for the TV appearance money, it seemed they couldn't give a toss whether we won, lost or drew. They owe is a huge effing apology for this shambolic display of ineptitude. It's alright excusing players on the basis that everybody has a bad game but this was collective shirking of responsibility on a criminal scale that underlines - as if we didn't know it already - that shorn of Lallana and Schneiderlin we are a very pedestrian long ball team; if we were ever to lose those guys permanently we'd soon be in the Conference where today's football belongs. Seaborne demonstrated exactly why Exeter were happy to sell him, waht astounds me and the rest of my pals in the bar was with Jaidi on the bench WTF was Adkins doing allowing the farce to go on and on and on and on. Tonight we will be a laughing stock all over the country, everyone knows that Peterborough under Ferguson are a basket case but Saints reputation has taken one hell of a hammering. Nobody will fear us again. How the hell are we going to win promotion playing like this? We'd never survive the NPC anyway with this excuse of a defence. I never thought the day would come when I would write that Ricky Lambert was our only player worthy of being kept on the field for 90 minutes but he was today. Adkins is now under the spotlight as never before, the honeymoon is over and the cracks are showing through. He is clearly limited in his vision, team selection and ability to change things around when the going gets tough. Alas from the body language of our totally disinterested players it seems we've got the wrong man yet again.
Dimond Geezer Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 What did he say? Quite how Bournemouth and Huddersfield will both win when they play each other in a few weeks is beyond me but there you go. There are so many games coming up where teams in the top 8 or 9 have to play each other and will take points off each other. We have to ensure we keep steadily picking up points consistantly and not worry about what the others will do week in week out.

S-Clarke Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 I don't think it's biassed to say fergurson comes across as a right nasty, arrogant little *****. I didn't like him before, but it seemed like a different level today. He clearly hates chaplow, perhaps he criticised his great management that got him sacked at Preston? He wanted chaplow off. It was a soft pen, but not a dive IMO, and if he's being like that, their player little made 3 or 4 challenges that could have been bookings, dived once and conceded a penalty. Fergurson says two pens were correct two were nonsense. So is he admitting the last one was nonsense? Because surely even this tool couldn't deny the first one?! The last one was nonsense and was purely based on atmosphere and balancing things up. It didn't hit his harm, but at that distance and pace it shouldn't even matter as it's not intentional. Really hope they don't go up as he'll struggle badly after they sell a couple. His reaction and attitude to Chaplow was totally unprofessional and respect to Chaplow for just turning away and ignoring it. I think we could all lip read to work out what he was saying to him. His stint at Preston proved that he is a pretty limited lower league manager destined for nothing much at all.

Every sport has its ethics and one of football's, as I understood it, is that a manager doesn't talk to opposing players during the game. Andy Durman Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 Lambert crucially gave the ball away twice in a minute and they then scored the important 3rd. Can't agree that Lambert is back to his best. He had two great opportunities to score in open play and he failed. Don't want to criticise, but seeing hold his head after his mistake said it all and cost us the game. Lallana is the secret for automatic promotion, but perhaps a CB partner for Fonte should have been priority in the January window. Seabourne lost his personal battles today and probably cost us the match, but the manager has to hold his hands up and maybe he should have replaced him with Jaidi or even gone 3 CB's and 5 in midfield and closed out the game. Ignoring all your other incredible over the top and ridiculous ramblings just for a moment could you please expalin to me how Jaidi would have possibly coped with the pace their forward line had ? Come on just for once have the decency to reply and answer a serious question !! So "Charlie Wayman", are you going to respond to that question or did beatle call it correctly - that you post this sh*t and don't have the brains or the balls to back it up? CanadaSaint Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 ... perhaps a CB partner for Fonte should have been priority in the January window. Seabourne lost his personal battles today and probably cost us the match, but the manager has to hold his hands up and maybe he should have replaced him with Jaidi or even gone 3 CB's and 5 in midfield and closed out the game. I thought we had one based on his early performances, and so - apparently - did West Ham. Does anybody have any idea why Martin appears to have been left out in the cold? JHsaintsfan Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 Just back from game, a couple of observations Although I thought that seabourne was relatively poor there was no way that jail would have coped with the pace of their front line Think the subs were about right but think that the formation should have been changed to 442 as they always had so much space on our left Would like to see the penalties on tv we gave away our second won by chap low looked very soft If we can get cms then he would definitely add to our team
eelpie Posted 5 February, 2011 Share Posted 5 February, 2011 Just got back from the game and what an incredible match. Frantic, fast end to end stuff in a heck of gale. It is ridiculous of anyone to blame the team or individuals for squandering a two goal league, because the wind made playing really, really difficult. But both teams threw themselves at each other with no quarter drawn. It was a skillful match and in truth a draw was a fair result, frustrating as it was. In the goalmouth melees at the far end it was difficult to see if the penalties were fair, and sight-lines at Posh's ground are poor. Make no mistake. Peterborough are VERY fast, direct and skillful, particularly Craig Mackail Smth, and if we don't go up, Our failure to buy him at any price will have much to do with it. He and the wind determined the outcome.
