Saints 4 P'Boro 4 - Post Match Reaction

St Chalet

Four things to take from today:

1) Seaborne is a liability

2) Davis has made one too many mistakes-I like him but sadly it's time to see if Bart is the future

3) We should have signed CMS

4) Jonathon Forte is the new target for the Saints boo boys

This isn't a disaster. As someone said, it's another tricky away game gone without defeat. Follow this up with a win against Carlisle on Saturday and we'll all be happy.

Yes, losing a 2 goal lead is bad (especially when you do it twice), but that's Peterborough for you. I'd much rather do what we did than experience what happened to Sheff Wed!

Everyone feels gutted now, but sleep on it and we'll all realise that in the grand scheme of things, this may turn out to be a point gained, even it feels like 2 dropped at the moment

Goalkeeping/defence were schoolboy at times today & it was gutting to twice throw away a two-goal lead.

I feel sure that if we had both Lallana & Morgan playing, we'd have won that game. Lallana especially would have had a field day!

I guess that game summed up Saints to a tee though; utterly unpredictable!

Totally inept defensive display from Davis Seabourne and Harding although Harding may have been injured and Forte misses an open goal. We have lost ground today. Embarassing on Sky.

Embarrassing!? I though it was an incredible advert for L1 football. When did Forte miss an open goal? must have missed that one...

This.

4 points from today and Exeter was what I thought we would get .... and IMHO will be enough for us to get automatic.

How was it embarrassing?? We gave possibly the best home side in the league a really good game and came within seconds of getting three points, denied only by another debatable refereeing decision. Whilst giving a lead away twice is annoying to say the least, to say that we were embarrassing is juvenile beyond belief.

He missed the ball from the 6 yard box, with 2 defenders either side of him and Joe Lewis in front of him. He should have done better, alot better, but he didn't miss an open goal.

A 2-goal lead lost. Twice.

That's poor. Couldnt follow the game, so dont know the reason for each goal, but NA needs to look at the back 5, it seems.

Huddersfield & Charlton in the driving seat for 2nd place.

Not the back five perhaps but himself........ We were out numbered and outplayed in midfield - Diamond my arese.....It ok where it fits but not every bloody game. They ran riot down the planks most of the game - there was little protection for the back four all the game. I'm an Adkins fan but his tactical decisions are becoming very suspect. We are hoofing it more and more - were fortunate at Exeter and very fortunate at Peterborough!

Harding was booked for moaning at the referee which was stupidity which meant we wasted a substitution. Harding's positioning was at fault for the first and second goals. For the first he was square of Seabourne and stayed there. He was marking nobody and being aware of CMS's pace he should have tried to get across in front of CSM but didn't, that might have driven him wider but it would have allowed Seabourne to pull back CSM without being sent off. He made no attempt to head the cross for the second goal and allowed the Peterborough player to get across in front of him and head in. Davis blocked a few shots but really didn't do enough for the first goal.

At last....

I blame Alan Pardew:rolleyes:

Four points from Exeter & Peterborough away is great.

Manure lost a one goal lead tonight, losing to the bottom team in the Prem. Arsenal surrendered a FOUR goal league to a side without a recognised Premier League striker; the three on their books have fifteen Premier League starts between them.

By comparison, both results are worse than ours. Has that derailed their respective Championship bids? I'd say no. A bad day at the office for them, nothing more. People on here need a bit of perspective.

Bayern threw away a 2 goal lead and eventually lost to Cologne as well!

I have confidence in our ability to score goals, and I think we'll get better at it in the last half or so of the season.

But I know one thing: if we keep ball-watching at the back we're going to see more games like that.

The only thing that can bail us out of those problems are a decisive, dominant 'keeper or Adkins going "hair dryer".

Over to you, Nigel.

I thought the same myself. Would have given 4 at the very very most.

Fergie time.

2nd half had 4 goals and 5 subs. Thats 4.5 mins right there.

3 bookings and 2 pens to sort out, if anything it should have been a lot more.

I would have taken 4 points from the last 2 games and remember we are still on over 2 points per game under NA.. If we don't win next week then I will start worrying. The game was even tonight and a draw was a fair result. It could be worse you could be an Arsenal fan or even a Man U fan tonight..

Usual over reaction. It was one of those games where both sides were determined to win and in pretty poor conditions too. As mentioned above Arsenal contrived to throw away a 4 goal lead and they are one of the top 3 teams in the country never mind Man Utd losing at Wolverhampton. I imagine Arsenal fans especially are presently throwing themselves off a cliff en mass !!

A draw is a decent result, just of course these days 3 points for the win makes a late equaliser more galling. But given our late winner at Exeter 4 points from 2 difficult away games is a good return, nothing is close to being settled yet. I'm still confident of finishing in the top 2, I'm certainly not going to believe one game we didn't even lose makes or breaks a season !

A draw away to Peteborough is not a bad result, however the way that it was achieved is rather worrying to say the least. With the exception of Butterfield I thought the back five were shocking. Seaborne in particular had a complete mare. Expected to Fonte to be more assured. Looked like they were all scared to death of CMS's pace. Not sure Jaidi would have helped as he is so slow he almost travels backwards when sprinting, although maybe he'd have been a bit more commanding in the air. No one seemed to be able to tackle at the back. Lost count of the amount of times The CBs and Hammond dived in and allowed their attacking players to turn.

Felt that N'Guessan should have been brought on in the second half, as with the wind we could have done with some extra pace on the field.

Forte should have done better with his chance but it was hardly an open goal. Lambert took the pens well but should have done better with two other chances.

Absolutely no ball retention once Guly went off, which worries me most. No matter how dubious the pen decision, that goal had been coming for ten or fifteen minute as we kept giving the ball away.

Not enough of us on the Forum. Totally agree.. Just worked out that if NA had been in charge from the beginning of the season, on his record so far, we would be in the top 2.. No question, so give the poor bloke a chance.. My god.. The only thing that I was dissappointed at was that we gave them too much space and that was because we had Guly, Barnard and Rickie on.. Made it too open for me.. It's as simple as that!!!

Looks like Ferguson really dislikes Chaplow, from his snidey post match comments and his reaction to Chaplow from the side lines. Thought Ferguson let himself down and showed himself to be a little man. No Grace. Would hate to have a manager like that. Did any body else notice?

Agree, Fergie Jr demonstrated a pure lack of professionalism. I wonder what went on between those two?
