Nexstar Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 On the back page of today's edition it has a picture of Rickie's second and, what you would expect to be an up-to-date, table. However, the table is of course not up-to-date and is in fact from back in November, after we had played 18 games and were lying in sixth. Instead we've played 26 games and are fourth. Well done, The Daily Echo. (again)
Saint_clark Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 That's a pretty impressive f*ck up. Does anyone actually check it before it goes to print?
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 If I ballsed up like that where I work I'd be sacked.
Turkish Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 you beat me to it. I dont understand how this paper can consistantly be so incompetent.
Dig Dig Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 The Echo defence league will be all over this thread soon
jawillwill Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Has anyone stopped to consider the fact that they've purposely used the seemingly out-of-date table to emphasise just how well we've been doing since November?
Saintjersey Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 I would be given a month's notice by my boss if I made a mistake like that at my work. You would think at least somebody would check their work before it is printed.
bridge too far Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 There's a poll on their Saints website section about transfer dealings. It's impossible to vote on it because some job vacancies roll across it. Click on your choice in the poll and you get directed to a job vacancy! Bloody amateurs
Turkish Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Has anyone stopped to consider the fact that they've purposely used the seemingly out-of-date table to emphasise just how well we've been doing since November? Why would they do that? Why do that and not tell anyone or mention it anywhere in the paper? Why choose a table from November? Why not choose a table in September when we were bottom half?
JRM Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 It is just a Newspaper, I really don’t understand why people get that wound up about it, I can’t imagine spurs fans posting on their forum just because the evening standard got something wrong. I don’t buy the echo as don’t live in Southampton, but got the pink on the way back on Sunday and thought it was decent coverage, better than most teams get from their local paper.
jawillwill Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Why would they do that? Why do that and not tell anyone or mention it anywhere in the paper? Why choose a table from November? Why not choose a table in September when we were bottom half? Aren't all the answers to these questions obvious?

scotty Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 you beat me to it. I dont understand how this paper can consistantly be so incompetent. Practice makes perfect mate
SaintRichmond Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Has anyone stopped to consider the fact that they've purposely used the seemingly out-of-date table to emphasise just how well we've been doing since November? Are you the Editor of the Echo ????
SaintRichmond Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Has anyone stopped to consider the fact that they've purposely used the seemingly out-of-date table to emphasise just how well we've been doing since November? Er ...... NO
Topcat Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Clearly the Sports Editor does not know the real position. WAKE UPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!
ottery st mary Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Maybe it was a test to see how many would notice.... Maybe not... Come Echo...echo ...echo...
paulwantsapint Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 If I look at team news in echo will it say that MLT is fit for sats game? Maybe tell us new exciting signing Ted Bates has arrived
Smirking_Saint Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Another thing, does anyone else look at Adam Lietch's player ratings and wonder if he ever goes to the game ? Or just makes them up ?
niceandfriendly Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 It is just a Newspaper, I really don’t understand why people get that wound up about it. "It's just a newspaper." "It's just an internet forum". Why is it that on this board people can only discuss world events which affect millions of people? Local newspaper sh*t? YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The9 Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Danny where for art thou Why are you asking Danny why he's called Danny ? Wherefore means "for what reason or purpose", not "where".
Crazy Diamond Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 I'm a journalist and the quality of the Echo's sports team absolutely disgusts me. We're fighting for every job out there and yet the sports writers, a loosely applied term to those that work there, have got their job and their own byline and use it to produce absolute crap. There are probably hundreds of people who are looking for a role in the industry for every job at their sports desk, so it's extremely frustrating to know that such amateurs are occupying those jobs. Newspapers are dying on their collective arses, especially the locals, and it's little wonder when such shoddy products are on offer.
saint_stevo Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 Why are you asking Danny why he's called Danny ? Wherefore means "for what reason or purpose", not "where". I couldn't give a flying ****. Nobody else gives a ****. They all understood. End

I didn't say you can't talk about it, I just don't understand why you are bothered about it. There are loads of alternatives if you don't like the echo. The pink seemed decent on Sunday, there isn't even a sports paper dedicated to London clubs up here
Nexstar Posted 2 February, 2011 Author Posted 2 February, 2011 I didn't say you can't talk about it, I just don't understand why you are bothered about it. There are loads of alternatives if you don't like the echo. The pink seemed decent on Sunday, there isn't even a sports paper dedicated to London clubs up here You say it as though people complain at the Echo's political bias, like national newspapers. But the complaint is at the journalists who cannot even get the most simple facts correct and then expect to be able to sell this newspaper to thousands of people each day, unnoticed.
Neil Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 I've stopped getting the Echo as their coverage of Saints was so dismal. Presumably they've offered a full-page apology for the lies, bull-**** and ****-stirring about AOC that they continued with for most of January?
Dellman Posted 2 February, 2011 Posted 2 February, 2011 I never see the Echo becaue I live out of the area but I know there is conflict with the Club , I guess because it is so amateur and our Club is now professionally run. My question is..is it true that the Echo was telling us the sale of Oxo was a done deal and if so shouldn't it be called to account? Or at least apologise, it unsettles the club the players and the fan base
