teamsaint Posted 8 March, 2011 Share Posted 8 March, 2011 Redundancies now and supporters are being asked to donate £10 when they watch games. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-12673258 Such terrible memories of when we were having whip-rounds to pay players wages to get to the end of the season. (And incidentally we owe Crouch for his vital contribution then otherwise we might not have survived till the end of season) I don't care if their dissolution might get us into the Championship by the (dishonourable) back door. I hope they survive! I agree about crouch. Should have been given a corporate box for life for the way he put his money where his mouth was. He was the only one. A true Saint. dubai_phil Posted 9 March, 2011 Share Posted 9 March, 2011 For those interested, BBC's Matt Slater covers the day to day bits and pieces on his Twitter Feed. Seems he is now the Beeb's Football Club Insolvency expert Tweeter eg And speaking of bids, Peter Reid is hosting sports memorabilia auction 2 raise ££ for #pafc on 24 Mar...every little bit counts
Thedelldays Posted 14 March, 2011 Share Posted 14 March, 2011 well..today was the dead line the administrator has confirmed that a number of bids to buy the club have been made...now it is a case of looking at the bids and what is best for everyone
dingbattigger Posted 15 March, 2011 Share Posted 15 March, 2011 Had 4 bids but not an expected one from 2 former directors apparently. Good luck to them.

If you were dead serious about buying a club, surely you help out, even if it was just the backroom staff?
gogo_saint Posted 17 March, 2011 Share Posted 17 March, 2011 I agree. Looks like any potential buyer is going to wait as long as possible to get the cheapest possible deal. Fair enough on their part when you consider the amounts involved in football, but on the other hand its an absolute tragedy for the club. Or is liquidation looming ever closer? May not be anything left to buy... Makes you realise how lucky we were/are.

trousers Posted 25 March, 2011 Share Posted 25 March, 2011 Latest development on the situation. It could be bad for them unless demands are dropped from either purchaser or stake holder. Aye. Doesn't sound good. But, there again, we were on a similar brink before our takeover. "There seem to be three possible outcomes. Mastpoint either comes good and produces an alternative buyer, or it relents and accepts the purchasers' offer. The third is for the matter swiftly to head to court. If the administrator fails to persuade the courts that the Mastpoint stance is an unnecessary obstruction then Plymouth are likely to disappear. It has got that bad." St. Mary's, Staplewood training ground, larger fanbase, Jackson's Farm etc etc. Thus a more attractive business proposition for investment. We had Dyer and Surman to sell though, plus if I remember correctly we had a few people willing to put their hand in their pocket to tide us over.Plymouth have been living this situation for months now so they're further down the road to ruin than we were and all their saleable assets are long gone.Their crowds are abysmal compared to those we were getting at that time as well. Unless of course he's hoping that they go bust and he could pocket the £125000 as a signing on fee. Surely Fulham could give them the money and loan the player back to Argyle for this season and even the start of next. Similarly those clubs in our division who would most benefit from Argyle not going out of business could do the same if they felt so inclined. A story that hasn't really been thought through I think. benjii Posted 25 March, 2011 Share Posted 25 March, 2011 Are there any deadlines for them? Surely they'll at least make it to the end of the season. If the administrators can't do a deal and the club cannot trade then in all likelihood they will wind it up irrespective of where we are in the season. Any purchaser knows they are getting a League Two club so it's not as though Plymouth will appear any more or less investment worthy in the summer. benjii Posted 25 March, 2011 Share Posted 25 March, 2011 (edited) If they are wound up soonish: Peterborough will lose three points and a remaining home fixture Huddersfield will lose three points but have the same number of matches left Bournemouth will lose six points () and have the same number of games left MK Dons will lose no points but will have one less away game to come Leyton Orient have not played them at all yet We would lose no points and one remaning away game (and our GD would increase by one). Looking at that, you would have to say it would be to our not inconsiderable advantage (and would also be useful for MK Dons) and would probably shaft Peterborough the hardest, although hopefully it doesn't happen. These end of the world scenarios from administrators have become complete tosh, everyone knows it's not going to happen and just continues negociating the bet deal for their interests. We'll no doubt be owing them for 3000 odd tickets soon, maybe more so that will bring them in 45K or something like that. Not sure Brighton and co. would help them out (even indirectly), but I agree it's very unlikely the FL would allow a club to fold with just a handful of games left. They (the FL) would do whatever they can to help the club stagger over the finishing line (and after that leave them to rot).
