Riiiiiiiiiiight. You might as well be talking in muslim for all I understand that, but at present the fkkkkin x box is downloading even more updates...... grrrrrrrrrr. Not used it for so long it's probably well out of date. Once it's done what it's doing i'll be trying to get onto that.

I thought it was pretty simplified :)

Download the download manager on PC

Run download manager

go into settings

find where it is saving files to

copy the location

open windows media player

go to library

click add to library

paste link

ok it

In theory the Xbox should then see that location and play whatever the download manager puts in that location.

The above is guess work from the info provided but I'd say it sounds about right based on how the concept usually works elsewhere...

Windows has blah blah blah has found a firewall in addition to the built in firewall blah blah. Additional firewalls need to be configured. FFS.

What does this mean?

Is it to do with Nortons?

I'll field this one for him.

Disable Norton

Disable Windows firewall

Email ip address to liquid

Email Lloyds password to liquid

Wait for bank account to be emptied

;)

hehe. Getting streaming working can be a pain under normal circumstances but bring Norton into the equasion and your fighting a losing battle. switch the bloody thing off. I'll take a cheque for my services dont worry about the banking password :)

You can get iplayer, 4od and catch up on demand through most sky and cable Pay TV services. Making an internet TV yourself might work but the quality could be lacking and you have the problem of needing to run it through the pc all the time.

if you have the money just get an internet tv, they aren't much more and the experience will be far better. or wait for google tv, the versions I've seen have been pretty cool and relatively easy to use once you get used to it.

.....or get PS3.

And then express this hate...on your computer.

I think it's your technological failings you hate. Computer is laughing at you.

I'm doing everything right, it's the ****ing computer that isn't doing what i'm telling it to do. Anyway I don't care anymore.

On your laptop, press the 'fn' key and one of F5,F6,F7 or F8 (one of them should have a picture of two monitorish looking things above it?) until it outputs from your laptop.

you will also have to select the right source on the TV as mentioned

That worked for me. I am so p$$d off that I didnt know this about 3 months ago before the ashes started.

This afternoon i'm going to buy a PS3, but what is the best way of connecting it wirelessly to a BT homehub, i.e what else do I need to buy?

I'm thinking a homeplug adapter, are these good?

Plus of course i'll need a remote control.

Dont need anything else to connect it to wireless if your homehub has wireless functionality.

Not sure about homeplug (I assume this is to extend your wireless signal or connect ethernet back to router through mains? If your wireless signal is ok where the PS3 is going don't bother.

And yeah a quick google will find ya the remote ;)

All bought and 'm currently trying to set it up. Bought a remote and a pair of homeplug adapters and have now found it has wireless built in, but never mind if the wireless isn't up to scratch i'll use the adapters but if not i'll get my £60 back.

It was mentioned earlier that it has built in wireless  Think those homeplugs are likely to be a waste of money in your case but you never know...

Should be self explanatory enough(?) to connect your PS3 to your homehub assuming you know your wireless key and you can navigate the PS3 menus. Once thats done upgrade the system and you will have the players under the TV section. Voila! :D

Then get yer ass on fifa so I can wipe the floor with ya ;)

Will do, it currently downloading updates and judging by the speed it'll be about an hourdoing it.......grrr.

It says wireless strenght 75% is that OK?

And does the fact my broadband speed area is rubbish (the price one has to pay for living in a rural area) affect things?

Help!!!

I've just spent over 2 hours setting the PS3 up (and the last 20 minutes walking round a cyber flat trying to get out of that stupid thing until i found out which button to press to get back to the main menu). have downloaded loads of crap andnow am downloading some more stuff.

But i can't work out where to get bbc i player etc. have found a demo page thing, but that seems to be just a dead end.

Where do i need to go to find i player please?

Haven't even tried a game yet, got a racing game and something called little big horn or something like that.

4 hours later, and after reading up online, i have discovered that after downloading stuff you need to turn the the bloody thing off and on again to get what I want. And it's now working!!!

really slow wirelessly, but with those homeplug adapter things and it's just as fast (or in my case slow) as the PC.

I've got the same tv and watched an England PPV game on the internet via the tv by using usb/hdmi cable link from laptop to tv, but disable the screensaver on the laptop as every so often it stops the picture until the keyboard is used.. I also have the latest 3D Samsung tv which links to the router wirelessly and needs setting up with the remote but I haven't bothered to set it up as I don't use it.

Bought a home cinema system today and as ever it's not a straightforward set up. Like a **** i went for a cheapish option and i can't get audio from the tv through the hdmi. So now i've had to order an opitical converter (off ebay from hong kong - never done before - the house will probably burn down!) to convert digital into analogue.

Didn't see your earlier posts where you were struggling :) not sure why you needed to turn off and on to get player as it should have done that after upgrading anyway but hey ho. Glad ya got it working. Would have thought 75% strength would be ok but yeah I'm guessing your Internet speed isn't great. Maybe switch off and on your homehub as always worth doing every now and again when it's running a bit slow.

Not sure about the converter you've bought... What does it claim to do? I certainly never buy from hong kong sellers on eBay either but some people must do as there's 1000's of em on there...
