a good judge of a new signings credentials is his old clubs opinion - the general response from scunny is one of glee and amazement that we have signed him. 95% are delighted hes gone! ill give him a chance (i never said i wouldnt) but not excited and question if he makes us bettter - time will tell

Like 95% of Saints fans were glad Delap went but Stoke seem to love him...

In Nigel we trust and welcome Jonathan.

I find it quite amusing that some are using the response of a fans forum to judge a new signing. Sure, it's a gauge of how well liked he is at his current club, but we all have short memories!!! As a forum we have been a great judge of a departing player haven't we?!?!?! Fuller and delap for starters were seen by many as hopeless with no future when they left here - I am sure some said they would drive them to Stoke - oh but wait, they are still holding down places in a reasonable premier league side!!! Not to mention our more recent experience with puncheon - who some boo'd, millwall loved and who is now playing in a mid table premier league team! Yep forums are great judges! Give him a chance FFS!

I agree.

There does seem to be a degree of lack of realism amongst some fans as to whom we might have bought. It's interesting to see that spurs, for example, went for numerous attackers and ended up with none. It's not like shopping in the supermarket or even at auction for that matter, where it's only money that counts.

So we've got some of the pace and power everybody was asking for and we've kept AOC for now. Opposition full backs and slow centre halves are going to be slightly nervous as they'll get no rest for tiring muscles. Before we had no pace on the bench went AOC went off - now we do.

"He's lightning quick. When I talk about quick players I always say, 'Is he Jonno quick?"

Nigel Adkins, never ceases to make me laugh in interviews!

That comment absolutely cracked me up! "Is he JONNO quick????" Can just imagine him screeching that in his Scouse accent when he was first told about AOC!

Good signing - pace we needed and now Forte and N'Guessan will create the space that Lambert and Lallana will thrive on. Plus they can be great impact players against tiring defences. Barnard needs to find his shooting boots at Exeter tonight otherwise he's going to end up 4th or 5th choice.

Some of our fans didnt like puncheon. I have an inkling he is going to be a major success at Blackpool

also I see Leon Best is newcastles new forward . lets see how he blossoms with a premiership side

Will he be as good as carrol. I don't rate Carrol , 35 million for someone who has just scored 9 goals jeez

I seem to remember it took Antonio a few games to get going and even then he had few inconsistant games -typical winger. Lets give Forte a chance. I forsee him being used as an impact player, his pace will be an asset especially in last 20 minutes of a game when opposition have tired. Our starting eleven are good but when things are not going for us you need to offer something different which hopefully this guy will provide. If we can get more crosses in then likes of Barnard and Lambert will thrive.

Lambert won't thrive on anything unless he gets "bionic" legs from Steve Austin

He's so slow, he couldn't catch a cold

This season so far he has played deeper and with his back to goal hence the lack of goals. Last season he was playing higher up pitch and we got more crosses into box hence his 30 odd goals. You don't have to be physically quick to score goals. What you need is decent service into right areas which hopefully the new guys will provide.

I would agree with that, just what we needed.

Some people seem to have short memories. Preston were delighted to be rid of Chaplow as they thought he was useless, but he's turned out to be arguably our most influential player. Give the boy a chance!!!

Very true and S****horpe fans on the fans network I use most, have said that as a winger he's good but has been played out of position as lone striker.

Agree give him a chance.

LOL @ some of the users on this forum. They have pi**ed and moaned that we havnt got any pace, NA has identified that and brought in 2 players who posses pace, one of who'm has it in abundance, yet still they pi** and moan. What a f*cking joke some of you are.

Maybe we should have done what those other clubs that are buying have done, and spent £7 Million on Craig Mackail-Smith? Because if Carroll is worth £36 Million, that's about right huh?

The January Transfer window is notoriously difficult. We made what was like a £5 Million signing when Lalla signed, then Chaplow, then Guly, then N'Guessan on loan, now our 3rd permanent signing a little whippet who NA think he can get the absolute best out of. I'm sure NA wouldn't have said all that he did on the OS if he wasn't sure if this lad had some serious ability.

if we had bought in lallana how much would we have splashed?

Good signing IMO, gives us options. As long as he's not Oxo's replacement

Just think about:

- - - - - - -Lambert - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - - - Lallana - - - - - -

Forte - - Morgan - - Chappers - -Oxo

or

- - - - - -Lambert - - Barnard - - - -

- - - - - - - - - -Lallana - - - - - - - -

Forte - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - Oxo

- - - - - - -Morgan/Chappers - - - - -

Either would be a ridiculously good front 6 at this level

Guly D in the hole and Barnard on the Bench surely

Hes got some serious pace, which is one thing that were missing. Not too worried about his goalscoring record for now as pace can open things up for other players in our team.

Adkins will know him better than any single one of us, hes seen him every day in training when he was at Scunny, who are we to doubt his judgement.

Good on FIFA too.

Michail Antonio (games for Reading): Played 11, Goals 1; Goals per game = 0.1

Michail Antonio (games for Saints): Played 28, Goals 3; Goals per game = 0.1

Jonathan Forte (games for S****horpe): Played 91, Goals 9; Goals per game = 0.1

Jonathan Forte (games for Notts County): Played 18, Goals 8; Goals per game = 0.4

Similar type of player. Similar goal ratio.

Simple as that.

Hmm...I still think Antonio could have done much better had we signed him this season.

Antonio and Forte...both unpredictable....very difficult for any defence...

Hope Forte does it for the mighty Saints..

Someone must know why Antonio is not really getting a look in back at Reading....

Is it that he now has a good contract or horses for courses and not fitting in with their style....

Who cares ..we now have the potential of Trust House Forte...

Come on you Saints...3 points at Exeter..Pleaser..

I’m happy with this signing and dany n’guessan. both will now provide the much need pace and extra option we have at times missed. i believe they can both do well for us and help relieve the expectation weighing on oxo and lallanas shoulders to perform in every game. Our bench is even stronger with these two replacing gobern and doble.

Based on what FFS, how many times have you ever seen him play??? All new signings should always be slated until they have played at least 10 games and performed to a title winning standard in each and every one.

Give the guy a chance FFS! Look at Chappers - PNE fans despised him, said he was the worst player since sliced bread - NOW look at him! He's our bestest player!

Please give Forte a chance - please!

If we kept every player on the premise they could or should be good, we'd have a squad of 300 players. Punch isn't good enough for our team simple as that. If he performs in the premier league for Blackpool so be it. I actually think he'll do OK, but he won't take Blackpool to the next level, we'll see him on the way down. With regards Forte, I'm willing to give him a chance, if he's crap I'll start booing;)

Chappers - good against Man U. Diabolical against Tranmere.

He needs to find his boots with the longer studs to stop all that falling over he did every time he got the ball on Saturday...!!
