Jonathan Forte signs - official

Some of the scunny posts will miss him more than woolford http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=460&fid=12&sty=2&act=1&mid=2118571568

It does give us some very interesting options - for instance, Fonte could be played on the left which would free up AL as a second or support striker. However good he is, AL is wasted on the wing. Would be devastating down the middle.

We've already got enough players like him in my opinion, but good luck to him and hopefully he'll become an asset.

Do we? We've been short of pace all season and N'guessan is only a loan. Forte can also play on the left where we've had a problems (punch, mills, holmes). Also means that Lallana can go down the middle where he arguably has the greaest influence.

Interesting idea. But I think he's best at centre back.

I will reserve proper judgement until he has played a few games. However, going on the majority of the S****horpe fans' comments, my friend's comments who is a scunny fan and the proven quality names that were being talked about, I am a bit underwhelmed (though happy to be proven wrong. Seaborne for instance has been better this year than I thought he would be.) I know I will most likely get shouted down for this but it does appear that funding has if not dried up then certainly been reduced significantly from last year. We do seem to be shopping for bargains somewhat. Nothing wrong with that of course when you get gems like Chaplow but it may give an insight into our future.

seriously, why do you bother, the club seem to let you down every week....just with nigel adkins being manager fills you with such disapointment..

You would be surprised how many fans I talk to who are still underwhelmed by Adkins and who feel the team should be higher in the league with the money we spent. It's not a view I totally agree with but you would be surprised by the number who think that.

Dear oh dear! count up our expenditure so far this window, we have spent shed loads for a Div 1 team.

Don't let me down Nigel...another so so signing please.

We will walk this league.

Preperations for the championship are moving at a pace.

Devils advocate and all.

Excellent prep for Championship - signed three championship level players - none of them straight into first 11. Good squad planning.

That can't be right. Glasgow saint said 99% of Scunny fans think he's ****.

Looking forward to seeing him play, sounds quick.

If you search for forte on their forum then topics come up from the past few weeks and months. The majority are pretty negative to be honest. Maybe he will do a job this season but in the championship? It's a gamble at any rate.

And yet were linked with players of proven quality who would have cost significant amounts. And lets also be honest that we are not a normal league one team. The majority of our purchases could have been made easily with no support from the Liebherr family.

that post is arrogant on so many levels....

See your point, but the players we have brought in are from a higher league.......

Again, I would say the majority of our team is better individually than a large amount of Championship teams (skates for a start). Some of our players have gone on loan to the NPC! Playing in a division higher is absolutely no guarantee of quality. Hope he is good though.

Is that the little knitting club you hold in high-street coffee shops slagging off managers in earshot? The last time you opened your mouth and dispensed your wisdom, we went on our Xmas run - thought you would have learnt your lesson.

No need for personal abuse. I said it wasn't a view I totally agreed with. If you remember that story correctly, I also said that we were unaware that Adkins was there at the time and were suitably embarrassed. If however he heard what we were saying at it spurred him on to our christmas form then really you should be thanking me :)

We are league one yes but we do not have a league one fanbase, facilities or (in the main) players and setup. Hence why we are not a normal league one team (normal being the likes of Orient and Bournemouth.)

brighton are not a normal league 1 team, neither are huddersfield, charlton, sheff wed

Good signing IMO, gives us options. As long as he's not Oxo's replacement

Just think about:

- - - - - - -Lambert - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - - - Lallana - - - - - -

Forte - - Morgan - - Chappers - -Oxo

or

- - - - - -Lambert - - Barnard - - - -

- - - - - - - - - -Lallana - - - - - - - -

Forte - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - Oxo

- - - - - - -Morgan/Chappers - - - - -

Either would be a ridiculously good front 6 at this level

Sounds very similar to Antonio, which will have some creaming themselves. Physically strong and quick but inconsistant and not a great football brain, probably make a great "impact player" at this level and lets hope the "superb coaching and sports science can improve the parts of his game he is lacking in.
