Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Marlon to us. It's already happened I reckon, Osbourne to Wednesday.
SuperMikey Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I know the photographer personally, and he just sent me the snap:
Weston Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ian Baraclough has confirmed that forward Jonathan Forte is in Southampton discussing a potential move to the League One side.
Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Based on what, given between them they have what...15 Premier league games? Carroll might be good, but at the moment IMO he could be just another promosing young striker who starts well and doesn't become anything. Jeffers? Carlton Cole? Even Heskey or Michael Ricketts! £35m is absolutely mental. No-one wonder clubs look abroad with prices like that. Suarez looks good but it's always hard to tell coming from the dutch league. Besides, if they're playing 2 strikers they run into their favourite Gerrard problem. He needs a team built around him, doesn't have the discipline for 442 and has proved it for a decade or so now. 4-3-3 then, Carroll in the middle, Suarez on the left and Gerrard on the right. It's all speculation at this point but I genuinely think those two will be fantastic together. Some cracking partnerships in the Prem by the looks of things, Torres and Drogba, Dzeko and Tevez, Berbatov and Rooney. Poor Arsenal.

ericofarabia Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I know the photographer personally, and he just sent me the snap: Oh noes he doesn't have any hands or a nose. He won't be able to sign on the dotted line (or glass anybody in a nightclub!!) or sniff out any goals.
sfc4prem Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing...
Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing... Have you ever seen him play?
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing... why..? a signing from the league above (again)
Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Berbatov and Hernandez sounds more deadly at the moment. Forgot about him, agree with that.
Tom28 Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Punch is on his way to Blackpool at the moment for talks on a loan move with a view to a possible permanent move in the summer.
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 So far we've kept Lallana/Chamberlain, the best two wingers in the league, if not the league above IMO, and added two more wingers when we needed cover. Puncheon can fck off now and we can be happy. I think pilkington would have something to say about that and taraabt....who is fuking awesome by the way
madruss Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing... That's funny, the same thing was said about Adkins
Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I think pilkington would have something to say about that Chambo, Lallana and Pilkington are the top 3 i think. Lallana at the top of that list.
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I think pilkington would have something to say about that Pilkington doesn't have some of the biggest clubs in the world after him. I'm not saying Pilkington is a bad player of course he isn't, but I'd put Lallana and Chamberlain ahead of Pilkington and Bennett in a top 4 list of League One wingers.
Ken Tone Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing... Don't know much about him, but a regular first team choice for a club in the division above us, shows some ambition IMO. And it seems he plays winger or striker, so will be good cover and an 'impact sub', if he doesn't win a first team place here straight away.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing... Whenever I have seen Forte I have always thought "Why don't we sign him?". Pace in abundance, can really get round the back. Will be a good signing in my opinion.
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Pilkington doesn't have some of the biggest clubs in the world after him. so...? has OxO or is that just paper talk..?
Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 so...? has OxO or is that just paper talk..? Well Wenger confirmed interest...
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 (edited) so...? has OxO or is that just paper talk..? It is not "just paper talk". Damien Comoli from Liverpool has been at Saints games watching him, Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson have both publicly stated their interest. They have not done the same with Pilkington! What is "paper talk" is that Saints are selling him, even though Cortese stated he wouldn't be (and it looks like he is right). Edited 31 January, 2011 by Matthew Le God
DT Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Looks like OxO is staying. Sort of a bit of a shame in that it could have funded our promotion push. Pleased and disappointed at the same time.
Doctoroncall Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 from the scunny telegraph: UPDATE: Jonathan Forte undergoing medical at Southampton Jonathan Forte is undergoing a medical this afternoon ahead of a shock proposed move to League One Southampton. Manager Ian Baraclough has confirmed former Iron boss Nigel Adkins has come in with a bid to take the 24-year-old front man down to St Mary's. "Nigel has always had great faith in Jonathan, who is out of contract this summer," said Baraclough. "It makes good business sense for us to have accepted this offer."
Window Cleaner Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 so...? has OxO or is that just paper talk..? Pilkington is too old to be a prodigy. The papers like em young and spectacular. If we don't get 10 million of Ox now I doubt that we ever will,we'll get money to be sure but not that much.
SuperMikey Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 so...? has OxO or is that just paper talk..? I don't doubt for a minute that Arsenal, Man Utd etc were after him, they definitely scouted him and probably put in an enquiry to the club, but I don't think that the talks were as advanced as the papers let on. The clubs will have sent a couple of scouts to watch him at a few games and then maybe spoken briefly to NC and been rebuffed by a £10m asking price for a 17 year-old untested above L1 level.
SparkySaint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Looks like OxO is staying. Sort of a bit of a shame in that it could have funded our promotion push. Pleased and disappointed at the same time. What???
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 He well might, but I'd disagree with him! Pilington is good, I've seen him a fair bit, but not, IMO near Lallana or Chamberlain. Taraabt is good and closest to Lallana, but not definitely better. I think some underestimate just how good Lallana has become in recent years. He was doing fine in the championship despite our relegation and has matured into a brilliant player since then. behave mate.....tarabt right now is playing as good, if not better than lallana for a team top of the next league above..scoring winning goals and setting many up.. please, stop this stuff about saints having the best players in the league above....that simply is not true
shurlock Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 (edited) Ambition. A word that doesn't come to mind on hearing that Forte is signing... We've been crying out for pace (more so than for finishers/foxes in the box) -and a mix of forte, chambo and n'guessan should give us it. Edited 31 January, 2011 by shurlock
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 get theis forte fella in...assuming he is quick.. get rid of puncheon keep chambo and have signed lallana up.. what a cracking window for saints... surely, that would be enough for at least 2nd in the league..?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ????
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? did not get accepted..?

Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? Maybe the clubs didn't want to sell? or asked for outrageous prices. I'd be happy with this window if Forte signs and Chambo stays.
Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? I have it on good authority that the Liebherr family have withdrawn all funds after they saw footage of Lambert yawning in training. They could tell that we weren't going anywhere.
Viking Warrior Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Any news on the David Nugent signing by NA
supersonic Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? Guly and Lallana?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I have it on good authority that the Liebherr family have withdrawn all funds after they saw footage of Lambert yawning in training. They could tell that we weren't going anywhere. If true then thats madness!
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 imo imo imo imo imo imo imo 'Simply not true' to an OPINION you don't agree with is fcking annoying. I wouldn't swap lallana for tarabt. that's my opinion. I think tarabt is a great player in the championship, I just happen to think Lallana would be too. opinion. i'm sure several clubs are of the opinion that chamberlain would be one of the best championship wingers too. actually, what if i'd said jason puncheon would be a top championship player? because he looked it. i didn't think he would, but i wouldn't have said he wont and claimed some all knowing insight into a player's future performance. you sound like alpine. i hate alpine. it my opinion its not true...how you can say we have two wingers that are better than every single winger in the league above...is daft...IMO..
saints-cris Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? Both Championship players. Who were you expecting?
itchen_dan Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? Even though I'm very happy with these signings I have to agree with you! When Adkins said "substantial offers" I was expecting signings more of the Fonte calibre but I suppose these signings will have to do.

HK_Phoey Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 and Chaplow, dont think that is too bad really
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Both Championship players. Who were you expecting? Forte struggles to get in the scunny side (one of the lowest scorers in the league) he's not exciting to me and does not match the policy of signing players good enought for the championship. Is he any better than we have? Hes had loans at Notts County and Rotherham (L2) and wasnt prolific........
beavis17 Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Even though I'm very happy with these signings I have to agree with you! When Adkins said "substantial offers" I was expecting signings more of the Fonte calibre but I suppose these signings will have to do. I'm guessing two of the substantial bids may have been for Austin and Mackail-Smith...
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" Jonathan Forte AND Dany N'Guessan ???? I'm sure the deals for Lallana, Chaplow and Guly were substantial for a League One side. Transfer cost, signing on fees, agent fees and wages etc.
HK_Phoey Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Guly and Lallana? Sorry meant to quote this one with Chaplow I dont think this is too bad

Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I'm sure the deals for Lallana and Guly were substantial. signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window...
Weston Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Forte in CCC - 18 starts - 6 sub - 3 goals - 3 assists - 22 on target 27 off hit woodwork once - no yellow or red cards
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window... Absolutely! Well done Nicola, Nigel and everyone else involved in all of that.
Nexstar Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Forte struggles to get in the scunny side (one of the lowest scorers in the league) he's not exciting to me and does not match the policy of signing players good enought for the championship. Oh and 8 goals in 18 games is not bad for a winger...
