Transfer deadline day thread!

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache

DMG is allergic to sprinting.

Ngussen can play up front and has pace.

Yeah but look at Ngussen's goal record. 4 goals in his last 40+ games. Not really a goal machine. Think creating goals is his line of work.

DMG is not the fastest guy in the world, can be a bit lazy (quite often!) but he did get into a lot of 1 on 1 situations and a lot of the time scores He did so again today for Forrest. So i don't really mean bring in DMG i just mean someone who we can pass the ball through the defence to. Try and break the offside trap etc.

Personally i think our forward play can be quite predictable. If we take Guly off and bring Barney on we are just going to play the same way. All three of them are more of your hold the ball up players.

When i was at the game yesterday i had a good chat with the guy in front of me and he thinks one of the reasons Rickie is not scoring goals is because he has to come back a lot more to get the ball. Before we would have a Waigo, or Antonio who would burst through and run at the defence. That gave Rickie the freedom to move up the pitch. He would then have a higher chance to get onto crosses or get on the end of blocked shots or deflections simply because he would be in their box, wouldn't have to run as far.

I think it was a really good point. Basically we are asking him to take on the back line with the ball at his feet and he is just not that type of player. Their defence just pushes him out wide, that loses his ariel threat.

We need someone to knacker out their defence, make them have to run back to catch one of our players. In a way that is what we had to do against United with Hernandez and later on Nani. They were offside a few times but all it takes is one of those times to not be offside and they can score. Hernandez took his chance. And by the end of it we looked totally shattered.

We probably won't sign anyone perm. now, but it's not a massive issue.

We have the loan window to open yet and apparently Simeon Jackson at Norwich is unsettled and they're looking to ''loan'' him out when the loan window opens.

I think we'd be sensible waiting for that one tbh, he's exactly what we're lacking up front.

I agree, a good signing if it happened, but why not loan him now? We've got N'Guessan on loan for the rest of the season already, why wait for the window to shut and re-open?

If we play like that nearly every game - no cutting edge - we need to make signings ... This Algerian (rumoured) could be just what the doctor ordered!

it was against Utd ffs! we play like that against anyone in L1 and it will be an Oldham score line

Adam Le Fondre will not sign a new contract with Rotherdam according to SKY.

I can't recall seeing him live, so out of interest, is he quick, quicker than Barnard for example, because he's quite short right? Unless he is pacey I don't see the point in bringing in another Barnard/Connelly (small, good finishers but not quick).

He's Albanian I think. FWIW I think we'll wrap up one signing today, and perhaps look to bring in a loan deal when that window opens. It'd be great to sign a striker permanently today and then look to fill a hole in the squad (winger?) with a loan.

We should wheel out the old Ted Bates statue and pretend it's Norman Wisdom - he'd join us in a flash. Apparantly Norman Wisdom is/was a cult figure in Albania and when England played there he went along and had more people clamouring to get his autograph than beckham and the rest of the England players!! LOL

Could be ****** but who can tell.

Southampton have had a bid of £1.4m accepted by Rapid Vienna for Striker Hamdi Salihi.

Albanian Salihi is expected to hold talks with the club and sign a 3 year contract.

According to sources he was seen at the Club as early as last week, however nothing has been sorted.

Im told we are hoping to conclude any deal by tomorrow's deadline.

Obviously nothing until the OS says but wanted to let you know what ive heard.

and what he says about his source.

Very strong source who included photo from his visit. Obviously terms to be agreed etc, and this is the strongest link I've ever received since been on 606. Let's cross our fingers.

Not sure he can make the cut in England. A very big fish in the little pond that is Austrian football.

seems to do okay for Rapid Vienna and internationals. Surely that is a lower standard than L1 and the NPC? I dont know anything about him.

NGussen hasn't played much up front, normally a winger, he's just an option we could use. Might help out others, but I can't comment much as I've only seen him play 5 minutes. I can comment on DMG, as I saw most of his games for us and it almost put me off football seeing someone like that earn money. There are different forms of laziness, his was all about ego. When asked to play out wide, he simply didn't, leaving a big gap no exploited. The worst performances I've ever seen by saints players frequently in the team are between him, ryan smith, calum davenport and claus in the relegation season.

DMG is without doubt though, the only professional footballer I've ever seen who can't cleanly strike a football. How does that happen? I'm rubbish and I can put my foot through the ball. He deserves no place on a joyous deadline day thread.

To be honest we should be on watchdog for selling him for over £1m, they were utterly fleeced.

jordan sibley on twitter ' transfer deadline day could be a long day in the office ' read into that what you will . i would of copied and pasted but dont know how to on my phone !!

For him he's probably just commenting on all the rumours that will circulate. He is one of the contacts for press and media enquiries, so his phone will be busy today.

Rumour on echo site that beat tie is at staple wood for medical.

That site is crazy. One poster ''beattie will sign''' next poster ''we'll sign Hakin Yakin'' and then the following poster ''We will not sign anyone, you heard it here first''

I will hazard a guess that none of them are right.

Have you actually seen him play Alpine, or is he just ..a name ?

Once or twice. But we dont have a top-league team in this part of Austria anymore, so I am not as clued up as I once would have been. I asked round a bit at work and no-one was hopping up and down in excitement.

My general perception of Austrian League football is that is slower than English football AND not as skillful. How many Austrian players are doing well or have done well in England ? Paul Scharner is about the pick of the bunch, and I can only think of Manninger and Hiden who have tried in addition.

Of course, Salihi is Albanian.

Well... there's always a diamond in every pile.

At first, no-one was impressed by Ivan Golac when they heard he came from YUGOSLAVIA..or Marian Pahars from.... LATVIA ?

and Hassan Katchloul (from MOROCCO) apparantly walked into the DELL ..and asked for a trial.!

If Salihi signs, we'll have a chance to see, won't we.
