Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Based on Adkins' choice of Chaplow i'm not going to throw my teddy out the pram just yet. Oh and 8 goals in 18 games is not bad for a winger... 3 Goals, not 8.
sainter28 Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window... Exactly Im sure our activity this window is the envy of alot of clubs!!
Nexstar Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 3 Goals, not 8. Whilst at Notts County he scored 8 in 18
Jones91 Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window... imaonion
Ken Tone Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Forte struggles to get in the scunny side (one of the lowest scorers in the league) he's not exciting to me and does not match the policy of signing players good enought for the championship. Is he any better than we have? Hes had loans at Notts County and Rotherham (L2) and wasnt prolific........ Maybe Adkins thinks he can drive the bus? Actually Forte seems to be pretty much a regular for Scunny. 22 games this season so far? Played in their last game. Is apparently as much a winger as a striker, so of course he isn't a profilic scorer. Sounds like a fair replacement for Puncheon, and if we've managed to keep AOC as well as Lallana, on top of the permanent deals for Chaplow and Guly, that's been a pretty good window. N'guessen too as a bonus signing.
Foxstone Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window... As succinct as it is superb.. Great compliments to NC and NA on a window well managed !
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Have you seen him play? nope....but the scunny fans have! Few quotes: "no footballing brain or composure" "Forte has pace but can't score" "Ha, looks like all the comments along the lines of 'if Adkins thought he was so great in the summer why doesn't he take him with him' will be coming to fruition." Scunny fans 99% are delighted hes leaving
suspect everyone Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window... We currently lack impact from the bench. Last season we had an Antonio or a Papa Waigo who could come on and change a game. By adding N'Guessan and, hopefully, Forte we'll potentially have that impact again. Add to this a vastly more influential Lallana (when fit) and a World Class player in the making in Chamberlain I believe we have as strong a squad as we've had in years. Now, lets win this f**king league!!! COYR!!!
Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 nope....but the scunny fans have! cadiz saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 And you agree with them without seeing him play?
Thedelldays Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 nope....but the scunny fans have! Scunny fans 99% are delighted hes leaving to be fair..we have all said that about certain players here and they have gone on to play far higher than us... as I said before bournemouth saint....we football fans know nothing
Rory Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 In my opinion, the internet has massively stifled the excitement of our signings. Gone are the days when fans make their own judgements when players put on the club's shirt. Now we check Soccerbase or wikipedia and immediately think they're crap if they haven't scored more than five goals.

Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 can forte be our new "boo" boy...? I'll be too busy booing Lambert for yawning in training.
Ashby Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 In my opinion, the internet has massively stifled the excitement of our signings. Gone are the days when fans make their own judgements when players put on the club's shirt. BTW - noone has yet posted the customary analysis from the esteemed bible of player abilities FFS.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 to be fair..we have all said that about certain players here and they have gone on to play far higher than us... as I said before bournemouth saint....we football fans know nothing You must have a watched football a long time and seen countless examples of a player moving and proving former fans wrong, no? I think I've seen it happen about 2000 times. I've also seen good players teams love move and be absolutely ****. Youre both right.....i will give him the benefit of the doubt! Just not that excited about this one. Names mentioned like CMS and alike led me to believe in someone fantastic being signed
Somewhere In Northam Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" players can turn down a contract aswell. who really wants to drop down a league honestly
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 And FM. BTW - noone has yet posted the customary analysis from the esteemed bible of player abilities FFS. Forte isn't particularly good on FM.
Turkish Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Regarding Forte surely the most important thing is what is he like on football manager? Does anyone have his stats?
Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Youre both right.....i will give him the benefit of the doubt! Just not that excited about this one. Names mentioned like CMS and alike led me to believe in someone fantastic being signed More chance of someone `"fantastic" when the players know what division we are in next year in my opinion.
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE "SUBSTANTIAL OFFERS" The deals for Guly, Lallana and Chaplow would have been significant for a League One side. who really wants to drop down a league honestly Jose Fonte? David Connolly? Dan Harding? Radhi Jaidi? Danny Butterfield? Guly? (Serie A to League One is a step down) etc etc
Give it to Ron Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 So Forte is that good Adkins sent him out on loan twice?
Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 We have some cynical fans don't we! Lets wait to see if he signs and then how he performs!
Matthew Le God Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 While basing your opinion solely on a player's FM stats is clearly retarded, it's almost as bad to completely ignore it. Perhaps the largest scouting network in football and an excellent starting point. But only that, a starting point. I'm not saying it should be the basis of any opinion, but it's highlighted the best young players coming through for years and years now. Anyone taking note then having said player scouted in real life has everything to gain and nothing to lose. If you forget the game aspect of it, it's merely a database of the world's footballers, which is a very handy tool. Absolutely! By no means solely base your opinion of a player on it. After all I'm the one that other teams fans base their opinion of Saints players on. But it is the biggest scouting network for footballers anywhere in the world with over 1,500 scouts and hundreds of thousands of players. Okay, these "scouts" are fans of the clubs and not professionals. But they do see the players week in, week out. A number of clubs and managers have admitted to using Football Manager as an intitial scouting tool and then follow up by properly scouting them. Everton for a start use it... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/2008/11/14/everton-sign-deal-to-scout-for-world-s-best-players-in-football-manager-video-game-86908-20893667/

I'm going to put my faith in NA here, someone who knows the player and obviously feels he can get the best out of him....and I will give him at least half a season before judging him
CWD Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I can't wait to boo Forte. I was worried that we wouldn't have anyone to turn to if Punch left but now we have a new one. YES!
saint_bert Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Im still stunned that Andy Carroll is valued at 35 million, and people are willing to pay it

buctootim Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 He is backup to Lallana and AOC imo - exactly what we need with Holmes crocked and Puncheon away.
thornhill_saints Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 : Remember Freddy Adu? Of course you do. There was a time that he was a teen sensation thought likely to be fetching a fee of £30m one deadline day. It didn't quite work out like that, though, did it? Now 21, he has just been loaned out by Benfica to Turkish club Rizespor until the end of the season, following a series of spectacularly unsuccessful similar moves
CWD Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Unless big late offer for Ox-Chamb he's staying at #SaintsFC. Trained 2day & senior source tells me club NOT in any talks #afc #BBCFootball From BBC's David Ornstein. Apologies if already posted
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 I can't wait to boo Forte. I was worried that we wouldn't have anyone to turn to if Punch left but now we have a new one. YES! His nickname at scunny is "puzzle" b'cos he falls apart in the box......... I still think we should give him a chance, so dont boo him immediately please. give him a chance ffs
Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Charlie Adam off to Man Utd......... Get out, source?

Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Im still stunned that Andy Carroll is valued at 35 million, and people are willing to pay it If he is worth 35 million, christ knows what we would want for Lallana.
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Im still stunned that Andy Carroll is valued at 35 million, and people are willing to pay it He is english, which will always put his price up, but that figure is staggering. I am amazed that both he and Adam are currently valued at such huge prices considering there abilities.
bridge too far Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Interesting article on the transfer window, even though it's in the Daily Heil http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1351962/LMA-chief-Richard-Bevan-claims-January-transfer-window-scrapped.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

He was at Monaco on loan.
Window Cleaner Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 If he is worth 35 million, christ knows what we would want for Lallana. Until Lallana gets into the full England side he will not be worth a great deal of money.5/6 million maximum. Untii he proves himself in the highest leagues he will have no real(in megabucks) transfer value.
Appy Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Until Lallana gets into the full England side he will not be worth a great deal of money.5/6 million maximum. Untii he proves himself in the highest leagues he will have no real(in megabucks) transfer value. I know that, i wasn't saying he would be worth anything near Carrol. But in the current market his price would still be crazy.
Saint J 77 Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 signing guly signing chaplow signing forte getting n'guessen on loan new contract for lallana keep OxO pretty much a superb window... Yeah that is great! Although... I'm not really sure about getting n'guessen on loan, I know Leicester fans see him and pretty much hit and miss. The thing is even if we do get the best out of him we will be in an Antonio situation again and he'll go back to Leicester and they will reap the rewards of our hard work with him. I see him as a player we need to improve and being here will benefit him playing in the team more than it will benefit the teams promotion bid. I hope he proves me wrong. I would have prefer someone that can come straight in and make a big difference but I guess we are being priced out of that by clubs not wanted to sell to us as rival promotion contenders. Not because we dont have the money they are asking but just NC isn't willing to pay over the odds for players who are not proven above are current level. (And Rightly so) So yeah I am happy with the business we have done to keep the current squad together but I do feel we are lacking and could do with a player or two to give us a better chance of promotion. Plus its always exciting to bring in a new dcent player to get the fans buzzing and just give the whole club a lift. So I do hope we can bring in a decent signing of Lambert/Fonte quality.
poppedout76 Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Am I allowed to make up a signing, sorry for the ignorance, but why are you all talking about booing Forte at our next game, has he signed, or are we all seriously bored at work!!!!!
Liquidshokk Posted 31 January, 2011 Posted 31 January, 2011 Sorry I didn't say he isn't a good player or that he won't do a job for us...its just odd to me that Adkins sent him out on loan a couple of times. I think this is an important question.... Adkins either rates him or he doesnt...
