SuperMikey Posted 28 January, 2011 Share Posted 28 January, 2011 Any recommendations? Looking for about 1TB, bigger if the price is right. Looking to spend between £65-£80, don't particularly want to break the bank on it.
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 January, 2011 Share Posted 28 January, 2011 There's a few on here: http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Components/cat/Hard-Drives---External It depends on how portable you want it and whether it needs a separate power unit. Remember that all hard drives end in failure.

SuperMikey Posted 28 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 28 January, 2011 Yeah, I figured I would get a quicker answer in The Lounge. The ebuyer link I was actually just looking at, seems very reasonably priced and good reviews across the board. Think i've found my hard-drive!Just want to get one to keep music, videos etc on as well as some academic work, i've got so many papers and stuff that are just clogging up my hard-drive at the moment and making my laptop run slowly. Plus, the extra storage space would be nice.Cheers guys!
saint_stevo Posted 28 January, 2011 Share Posted 28 January, 2011 no probs. I considered external storage and ended up with a NAS. Meant i could access it from all my devices and didnt have to even think about it, just sat it down next to the router and hey ho
SuperMikey Posted 28 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 28 January, 2011 Nice one. While we're on a techy topic, any tips for cooling down my processors? They're running very hot, in the 80s. Done a bit of googling and most laptops tend to run perfectly well at these temperatures but i'm slightly worried about any long term damage it might cause, can't really afford to be shelling out for a new laptop. Worth buying a cooling pad? QuadCooler seems to be a popular one: http://quadcooler.com/products/coolers/quadcooler.htm

QuadCooler seems to be a popular one: http://quadcooler.com/products/coolers/quadcooler.htm First step is to get a screw driver and take the back panels off and clear out the dust n crap from the board and vents, then give it a test workout and see if that helps. EastleighSoulBoy Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 I have two of these which are as back up to each other. I did pay more for them, back about 18 months when they first came out. Very quiet, just a click from each as my PC boots up.
