Sheaf Saint Posted 28 January, 2011 Posted 28 January, 2011 My girlfriend's car is due for its MOT but there is a crack in the windscreen that we haven't got round to sorting out yet. Would that mean an automatic MOT failure?
Weston Saint Posted 28 January, 2011 Posted 28 January, 2011 Only if it is in the vision sight (use windscreen wipers area as a guide)
buctootim Posted 28 January, 2011 Posted 28 January, 2011 Theres a guide on the AA site. Depends on location and size. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/safety/windscreen-vision-safety.html
Sheaf Saint Posted 28 January, 2011 Author Posted 28 January, 2011 Thanks for that Buctootim. Looks like we will need to get it sorted before the MOT then. The crack is not in the drivers field of vision but it's a lot bigger than 40mm.
swannymere Posted 28 January, 2011 Posted 28 January, 2011 A crack is a definite MOT failure regardless of where it is.
St Chalet Posted 28 January, 2011 Posted 28 January, 2011 You can fail an MOT for a cracked windscreen, but the car will pass if it has no windscreen. A radical solution I know.
