MOT question

My girlfriend's car is due for its MOT but there is a crack in the windscreen that we haven't got round to sorting out yet.

 

Would that mean an automatic MOT failure?

Only if it is in the vision sight (use windscreen wipers area as a guide)

Thanks for that Buctootim. Looks like we will need to get it sorted before the MOT then. The crack is not in the drivers field of vision but it's a lot bigger than 40mm.

A crack is a definite MOT failure regardless of where it is.

You can fail an MOT for a cracked windscreen, but the car will pass if it has no windscreen.

Abit like a spare tyre - an illegal or punctured spare means a failure.

 

No spare at all - a pass.
